I once had a Roland W-30 where the stick on the pitch bend wheel was broken. I used the nose of a smurf and glued it on there. It turned out to be *better* than the original (I had two W-30s at the time, making it easy to compare side-by-side), as it had a much better grip and was slightly flexible.

Sorry, just to be clear do you mean what to make the mould from, or what to make a moulded copy from?ranger3 wrote:Hi,

What's the original made from?

but are you asking what material for the mould
or
what material for the pitch wheel?
either way, id just buy one considering without the correct tools it will be shit.
you need proper air injection to makke such things, its not really soething you could just knock up with any old equipent.
would be cheaper to buy the replaceent. or stop messing with it, it will fall off. didnt your parents tell you that!?

Yes, I got that bit. I dont think it answers my questions, though.ranger3 wrote:Hi,

So, again, to be clear, do you mean :
1) what to make the mould from,
or
2) what to make the moulded copy from?
Also, as I also asked, what's the original made from?

Hi,
Sorry if I'm not clear,
Basically I have the wheel, so I want to copy it, so I want to make a molding of the wheel to then insert some liquid plastic of some type into the mold to then have the copy item of the original wheel.
My original is a hard plastic, not sure of a specific type...

I came across this site recently, it'd probably be worth having a dig through their tutorials.ranger3 wrote:Hi,

Alternately, instructables.com has some similar material but you probably need to dig a bit for it

Have you considered 3D printing? Your local university/tech college may have the tools to 3D scan the wheel and then print it, or an obliging student could measure it and make a CAD model of it for you (the scanning bit is time consuming, depending on the method used, so getting an accurate enough CAD model done and 3D printed could be cheaper.
I mention trying at an educational institution because my cousin works in exactly this field at my city's main university. They're able to do one-off things much more cheaply than commercial guys because the uni is subsidized.
just a thought
