Well, since youre experienced (meh, now i gotta listen to some Hendrix), i'll give you these simple hints. If you check what you dl'ed, theres .GZ and .PAX, with WinRar and WinTar, you can get the lib out of the file without any installers, granted that you have a working copy of kontakt, service center, and a serial number for the lib, effectively bypassing the 'installer'. Works on XP x64.lingyai wrote:I do know how to unzip, what not to do, etc ... but yeah, recently I've had some weird struggles.
Maybe in my case here the file was corrupt? I am downloading from Sennheiser again...
This better be a good drumkit!

Ok, this is kind of weird... I've re-downloaded the PC version zip and extracted it. The result is one file called "DrumMicA Setup PC.exe" and a folder called "DrumMicA Installer Mac.mpkg". For Mac? Don't get it. I definitely downloaded the PC version. Could this be the problem? Anyone else get this?

The PC/MAC is in the 5.x gb file. Something is going wrong with your extraction process.lingyai wrote:Ok, this is kind of weird... I've re-downloaded the PC version zip and extracted it. The installers for MAC/PC are about 1.x gb, and the library is about 3.x gb.

I'm getting seriously sick of this. This is the third time I've downloaded and unzipped. Right click on archive, choose 7Zip's "Extract here" option, wait a few minutes ... like I have done countless times before without incident. Here, no error messages, but never seems to do what's expected.
How hard can it be?
F*ck it. It was a freebie anyway.

I assume you're on Windows? You need to open Folder Options and tick Show hidden files, folders, and drives. There is three hidden folders totaling 4.17 GB of data. Total contents unzipped should be: 229 files, 102 folders and 4.75 GB (5 106 363 783 bytes). Installed size is 8.47 GB.lingyai wrote:Ok, this is kind of weird... One other thing, 7zip can't extract into a folder you don't have writing permissions to so you might want to look into that also. And naturally you need to have administrator privileges to install many plugins and programs properly.

hi,
I had the same kind of problem, needed to download again, but I try to use WinRar instead of 7zip (which I use a lot without problem), and now all is working fine. Give it a try, WinRar demo mode is fully functional for 40 days.
cheers
Phil

Works fine here with 7-Zip. No need for WinRAR...philwake wrote:hi,

Thanks everyone who's been offering tips and comments. I'll try these things later (though I did already try WinRAR. Sorry to have come across as so grumpy. But good gosh, unzipping a file really should be foolproof.

I'm a late comer as I've had trouble with the downloaded file. Finally I managed to get non-corrupted zip file yesterday, and played a bit with DrumMicA last night. To my surprise, it even had a set of built-in maps to suit their key assignment to some of the popular drum VIs (EZDrummer, Superior etc). Since I had a project that uses EZDrummer, ran it through DrumMicA to experience its sound in a real song. Unfortunately, the map was not quite right, as Chokehold already has found out.
Hoped the mappings were some kind of independent XML or text files and searched, but no luck. Wondering if anyone has figured out how the mappings can be fixed by the end user?
Most annoying thing I wanted to fix quickly myself is C1 that's mapped to Snare Roll - it's supposed to be Kick!chokehold wrote:Hm, I played around with it for a while, just as I thought. Not very thrilling.
It does have a continuous roll articulation that might be convenient.
But what they call a MIDI mapping for EZ Drummer and Superior Drummer has absolutely nothing to do with the truth, I have both and C1 = Kick, D1 = Snare.
It is definitely not G1 = Kick and B1 = Snare and C1 = Snare Roll, or whatever Sennheiser have phantasized together in their sleep there. Very disappointing. I'm definitely not re-arranging all my older stuff, no sir.

Mapping is done within the script... It wasn't supposed to be fixed by the user.

Thanks EvilDragon for your insight. It's so unfortunate to not be able to directly compare A/B with other drum VIs.EvilDragon wrote:Mapping is done within the script... It wasn't supposed to be fixed by the user.
Hoping the mappings get fixed some day. It's just a final missing touch in a great free drum kit.

Would a midi note mapper plugin work? I'm quite sure there are some._emanon_ wrote:Thanks EvilDragon for your insight. It's so unfortunate to not be able to directly compare A/B with other drum VIs.EvilDragon wrote:Mapping is done within the script... It wasn't supposed to be fixed by the user.

Any Kontakt experts here? Let's say I want to make a preset using say Metal 3 Kick and Snare and Toms and Cymbals from Funk 1 presets. Is there any other way to do this other than copying the settings by hand in Kontakt Player?

No other way than that.

Thanks for that. I too hope eveybody gets to take advantage of this but I was also anxious to impressions on the the drums themselves. Got my activation code just waiting for the download to finish.MFXxx wrote:Hope you guys get it sorted who ever's having issues
Working and authorised nicely on Win8x64 in Kontakt5.2.
There's a good spread of nice clear drum samples, drum sets and they've even included some midi groove/loops. I counted 20 genres each with a minimum of 2 to 12+ groove/fills/ending midi loops. A really nice touch.
Nice mixer section with 9 individual fader controls and 1 master, each with a seperate send to built in rev. Sync for each channel and a low/hi control on the main control. Also an OV send containing EQ/Trans Designer and a compressor sends.
Each preset has a choice of 4e mics the e914/km184/usm69i and a mkh800.
Various options for velocity curve for the whole instrument and option for individual audio outs. Built in mapping for VDrums/EZDrummer/BFD?Addictive Drums and Superior Drums.
Drum presets each have their own auditor and drummer preset, not sure what these do yet apart from changing some pan for several channels...haven't delved further.
Presets :
Default
Blues1
Blues2
Britpop
Disco
DNB1
DNB2
Funk1
Funk2
Funk3
HipHop
TripHop

For a freebie this is excellent. Some of the samples are replicated in the presets but overall. There's a lot of work and thought gone into this for a freebie.
Note some of the labelling and description is german only - hey I can learn or live with that
