Hey folks, I stumbled upon this while browsing the mighty interwebs and found only one mention of it here at KvR (here). It's been recently updated.

Quote from the site:

"Giada is a free, minimal, hardcore audio tool for djs and live performers. Load or record up to 32 samples, choose to play them in single mode (drum machine) or loop mode (sequencer) and start the show with your computer keyboard as a controller.
Giada aims to be a compact and portable virtual device for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows for production use and live sets."

Might be useful to some as it is now, and worth keeping an eye on. Couldn't get it working with ASIO though - but did manage to have a bit of fun with it through DirectSound. There's also a roadmap and it looks like it's going to a good direction.

edit: added MIDI to the topic title as well

Yea, it's a nice piece of software. It's getting regular updates as well, a new version increment just the other day. It's at 0.6.1. now.

The official site has been moved to http://www.giadamusic.com/

Changelog is available at https://github.com/monocasual/giada/blo ... /ChangeLog

Wow yeah. A looper that hosts VSTs and lets you save the loops as a project. Isn't that basically a DAW? ;)

Very inspiring program.

Yes, it is quite an excellent program.

It does now; the website says: "Transform Giada into a native VST and VSTi host, with plugin support for Linux, Windows and OS X."

Currently at 0.7.2

As a plugin. It will host plugins, but there's no VST version of it.

I'd be extremely interested in that as well. The world is missing a looper less complex than Möbius but more capable than, say, Ableton Live's looper (yes, I realize you could make a rack with it and then go completely insane trying to explain your desired midi controls to Live).

But it's still great.

Giada has been for a while at the KVR database, so if you fancy, you can subscribe to it with that MyKVR thing. http://www.kvraudio.com/product/giada-by-monocasual/

There's also a few videos if you wonder what it's all about.

Missed this one earlier, it is now at v0.9.4

But DAW? The installer file is less than 2MB, that would be one of the tiniest DAW's incase...

Cool that is appears to be portable though, it fires straight up just clicking the exe file :)

good fun it is...
