Just got an email from JRR Shop, they have BFD 3 on preorder available. 149 (126 with "group" coupon) is a bit steep for an upgrade price (BFD1 to BFD2 was 99 i think?), but since it's 7 new kits, it's basically like whole new package (and the full price will be 349, which makes the upgrade price seem like a bargain). and they said all the expansions will be automatically converted to BFD 3.

I wonder if this "tom resonance" and "cymbal swell" modelling will apply to older expansions as well.

What do you guys think? Will you upgrade? (i certainly will :-D )

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

It's a no-brainer for me. Done deal. 8)

Funny, Fxpansions has been really lazy giving any information of this major upgrade. As as long time user of BFD1-BFD2 haven't got any hint of the timetable. Not a single mention of the BFD3 in the Fxpansion site. The only information is a boring "coming soon" zeroinfo "ad" in the Youtube. Although they didn't know the exact timetable, they could some info to their clients and list the major new features of the BFD3. H.

Would be nice if they could do a sorely needed Synth Squad update once this is out of the way.

I guess you missed this :-)

I remember hearing somewhere (on FX forums perhaps?) that closed betas will come end of October, and release will be shortly after that, but don't quote me on that. Bear in mind that, unlike for example u-he, it has always been FX's policy not to discuss any products before launch. you may disagree with it, but it's certainly not unusual for them to not have any details about upcoming update before it has actually happened.

Noone 'missed' it; to miss it it'd have to be obvious, but overlooked. But its not obvious; there's no way to it from the main FXP site and you have to know it exists to find it.
Set Theory claim:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate.
Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

Yes, thank you - but as whyterabbyt pointed out, one can only wonder how limited the information is. I'm in the Fxpansion's newsletter list, I visit regulary their sites and forum, but haven't got any data directly from the company. The above link gives few points, but e.g. the video (I saw it in the Youtube earlier) is just nonsense. BFD is the flagship (or is it anymore?) of the company, althoug they didn't know the exact launching date or all the details, they could keep their customer better informed. H.

you're right, you have to know it existed.

i think the reason they're not pushing it quite as much right now is because it's still in the works. there was topic on FX forum a couple of weeks ago that says a BFD 3 ad appeared in one of the printed magazines - that's how i first knew about it (while wondering around FX forum on an unrelated issue). today, i got an email from JRRShop with their usual sales, with BFD 3 preorder included. so i would guess that gradually, as we come closer to release, there would be more official announcements and more buzz generated by FXPansion.

Really depends on the new groove tools for me. The upgrade price is more than I paid for BFD2 on sale.

So you bought a 4 or 5 year old product on sale last year for like $100, and now you think a $150 upgrade is unfair? What's unfair is your point of reference. The blowout sale prices for the much older software is typically bargain basement... Like dim pro for $20. That *does not* mean that a fair upgrade price to Dim pro 2, if it existed, would be like$10. Come on now, you need to think about what you're getting for your $150, keep things in perspective ffs. Or... Just wait 5 years and buy the upgrade for $50 when it goes on sale.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

got the jrr shop mail too , but what makes me wounder that none of all other known shops have it for preorder yet ! mistake ? don't know

and the BFD3 Cover on the jrr shop are based from an japan site

http://www.minet.jp/bfd3-teaser/_i/bfd3.jpg

i can't read or speak japanese , so i don't know whats written there on the cover !

the upgrade price for the early state are very ok for me too !

but anyway i think lets wait and see what will happen and especially when !

as i said to early for now :hihi:

It wasn't that long ago they said they were dropping BFD as not worth their time, that what they'd done on 3 was included in the 'final' update to BFD2. Since then they fixed some bugs in that 'final' in a public beta.
