It is just fine AFAIK and I have nothing to complain about. Just the past few months we've had a lot of goodies. For me they would include
AXP SoftDrive GV1
LVC-Audio Transector and ClipShifter 2 updated to awesome
Two-Notes Audio Engineering TORPEDO WoS III
Ignite Amps TPA-1
Klanghelm SDRR
u-he SATIN
New AmpliTube & T-RackS stuff
Blue Cat Audio Blue Cat's MB-7 v2
Boz Digital Labs Bark Of Dog
(I do feel sorry for all those whom bought UAD's Little Labs VOG "modelled" plugin)
iZotope RX 3
Waves RS56
Celemony Melodyne 2 updated
I'm sure there is more if I could be arsed to really think
Plenty of other updates to free and commercial plugins
Add-ons for ROMPlers
DAW updates
I haven't mentioned any synthesizers as I don't/can't keep up much but I've seen plenty of threads on new synthesizers, upcoming synthesizers, Updates and SoundBanks
It's been good for awhile now and quality is improving along with prices being much more wallet friendly in most cases IMveryhumbleHO. I am really
quite easily pleased mind and a bit simple
Cheers and would love to talk video games but don't get to play any as my kid's are always using the consoles, handhelds plus their own laptops...I don't get a look in

I know. That's what I said.VitaminD wrote:I think with Synthedit and Synthmaker we ARE in a similar place as the games market...
Synthedit is the RPG Maker of the music software market, though, so we're not in any real danger of it hurting the market.
I can't comment on Synthmaker, but it seems it has a good reputation.
We'll be in trouble when Steinberg or Cakewalk become Valve and release the music software equivalent of the Source SDK.
Which will never happen.

Nah, it feels like things are just getting started.
It's amazing what you can do with plug ins now.

That's the f**king truth. We've become used to the utter magic of plugin power circa 2013. When in reality, musicians 20 years ago would have severed a limb to have what we have now.Rah wrote:Nah, it feels like things are just getting started.

I don't agree. I mean, there are some really kick-ass stuff right now but if you see something like "sound city" (recommended to anyone/everyone) you can see that the magic is lost.K-Bee wrote:Or learn to play the piano!Arglebargle wrote:That's the f**king truth. I was being ironic (hence the smileys), at least to some extent. Without playing skills and everybody buying the same sample packs and construction kits we end up with some far from creative music. In fact, we're already there. A quick glance at any dance top 10 chart surely shows that.
I'm not saying that hit music was without copycats 20-25 years ago. Of course it was...everyone used the funky drummer beat and "uh-yeah" samples. That said, it took at least some skill to make things work and chord progressions weren't found on sample cd's. They were played or programmed from scratch. You had no choice but to learn basic music theory or at least going by ear. These days you don't.
Construction kits can be used to creatively much the whole marketing is geared towards people who won't.
Thankfully, a synth plugin can be an instrument too, playing it and all

Yeah, plugins are just a trend, we'll all be back to analog hardware any day now.

I use mostly free plugins in my music. I don't feel at all disadvantaged because of it. Granted there are some commercial plugins that I have had my eye on... Zebra, Massive, Omnisphere, Damage, Synthmaker. I don't really feel like a *need* to have them for "quality" or "analog warmth" because I'm getting great results now. The only thing I really feel like I need is good quality orchestral samplers (that's why I'm saving up for Komplete Ultimate).
I definitely don't crack or pirate my software.

This is a feeling I sometimes experience too. Historically, it seems like this kind of feeling is experienced in any century transtition. From 1900 till 1914, for example, there were several references to this feeling all over Europe. It all ended (tragically) with the first World War. It was called by the french as to be "le mal du siècle".meriter wrote:sometimes it seems like we're seeing the decline of everything
I sincerely hope we are not in the same path, but things don't look bright, definitley.

Exactly. It's why you see many older futurists here posting about the best hands-free guitar library and the best plugins to make beats without feet.Arglebargle wrote:That's the f**king truth.
