How to mimic sounds in FL?

I'm using FL and I'm trying to do a VGM version of a classic rock song you've all heard. When you import the midi file to FL it puts each individual instrument in its own channel, each with its corresponding sound/instrument.
I downloaded some VGM VSTs and want to recreate each instrument's sound with my various VSTs. What's the easiest way of doing this? I thought I could maybe just replicate the waveform of the instrument I'm trying to mimic with my VSTi. Is that possible to do with FL's wave editor tool?

How much do you know about synth editing at this point?
Knowing the basics of synth programming is your starting point. Use your ears. Seriously, use you ears.
Start with any presets in those Vsti's, they'll get you close most likely.

What's VGM? Video Game Music?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I know next to nothing. Some good intro material recs would be good. The VSTi I was using didn't have a bass preset. ;_;martygras wrote:How much do you know about synth editing at this point?

if you have import the midi-file you can replace every track in fl with the desired vst' (like you said).
the kind of words you use to describe your problem/solution (replicate waveforms etc.) shows me that you are a newbie, which is of course okay.. ..but maybe you give yourself the needed time to work you trough the basics first, many things will then be much clearer for you.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Print all of these, and have them spiral bound into a book that opens

If you mean Chip music, then it is better to use a synth that targeting this genre (although any synth can do it, it is easier this way).ErichFranz wrote: I know next to nothing. Some good intro material recs would be good. The VSTi I was using didn't have a bass preset. ;_;
Take a look here:

(I liked a lot the audio demos! Nostalgia! I might switch to this genre
Many consider the quadraSID a good choice (http://refx.com/products/quadrasid/summary/), but there are others too.
The best way IMO, is to download a bunch of them (free and demos) and try the presets with the midi parts you have till you find something you like and think it is 'fit'. Trying to create the sounds from scratch is very difficult if you don't have any background in sound design.

Yeah, EnGee is right. gets you closer and I think it will be a lot of fun trying to breathe new life into some older game sounds.
You may never see the light of day again.
Also...
The game world now is all about big cinematic drums, horns and choirs.
