The "try before you buy"? A pathetic excuse?

Maybe... but I bought "Wusik", without trying first, and bought it, and was really disappointed by the 14Gb of sounds...
I also bought several Sampletank banks, by trying only a few sounds from a demo set, and was also very disappointed when I got the "full" package.

The "trial" versions are usually quite limited when products are based around huge soundbanks.

I tried Sampletank free, and was quite disappointed with the result.
I bought Miroslav Vitous SE (cheap and limited edition), and found it was not that good.
Then I, yes, downloaded SampleTank full version. I found it excellent, and the best sounds were not in the small trial or free versions. So I bought the full Total Workstation Suite.

I guess it is like the guys who download tons of movies... they are usually the ones who also own tons of real physical DVDs...

I bought Cakewalk 7,8,9, Sonar1XL, Sonar2XL, Sonar4, Reaper2, Reaper4, Wusik, Total Workstation, Z3ta2, Rapture, Dimension Pro, UltraAnalog, Rhino, EZDrummer, BFD, Ozone3 and 4, MixControl Pro, DDMF IIEQ, several AcoutikSamples, RobPapenDelay, Spire, MrRayII among other, but these are the ones I remember...

What cpu, os and version, build of Cubase 7? Also what bit/freq range (24b/96khz 16b/44.1khz etc) and buffer size on your audio interface?

Seems like some kind of strange denormal problem.. but more info is better than less info in tracking the bugs I think.
Sorry - AMD Phenom X6, 16GB RAM, Win7 Ultimate. Cubase is latest 7.0.5.
Interface MOTU 828 mkII, buffer size 128, 24/44,1 kHz

v1.04 is still hammering my CPU on some patches (e.g., plucks in factory bank 3).

making things up to make your point is...pointless (ie "I guess it is like the guys who download tons of movies... they are usually the ones who also own tons of real physical DVDs..."). based on what info??

the truth is...this is no place to discuss pirating. listen: if you can't tell from a demo whether a plugin is right for you (or not)...find another plugin. if there's no demo...find another plugin.

warez is not ok, but if you're gonna do it...don't discuss it in public.

just some thoughts... :D

Ok, so this is hopeless, the fact that I bought the product this thread is about, we don't care...

I don't understand what the problem is... my goal is to find the pieces software I need, in order to buy them !
I have hesitated before pulling the trigger for a synth, and Spire won...

You want my S/N of Spire maybe?

We don't need your S/N. We got one at the moment of purchase.
Somehow we are gifted at birth to be able to make such a difficult decision Only with a demo!!!!

Thanks Cryophonic for pointing out the rules, sorry about that then, I feel confused now! :(

That being said, I discovered that a v1.03 existed, and I would have loved to be notified by email. Thanks to you, I see that a v1.04 has just been added a few minutes ago.

That would be so cool to be informed...
For some reason, as I said, spam for new versions only come from products I don't own (and am not interested in)...

If it is not by email, it could be when you launch the vst... but it is not the case (at least in my legit 1.02 version...)

Concerning the CPU usage, I am impatient to try v1.04, as with 1.02 patches from Mr Hollo reach insane amounts (above 20%) of CPU usage on my old QuadCore...

And sorry for the "bragging" (I learned two words tonight: "balantly" and "to brag").

@zealous moderators: Feel free to ban me !

Yes, it seems, I did not have this gift... :)
I tried the WusikStation demo, and was quite disappointed when the full product arrived... more than 10x the size of the demo, but nearly nothing new in the banks, and the news sounds were just the less interesting ones...

For synths, they usually provide nice demos either with unability to save, or like Spire, with noises, but they allow a good evaluation of the product.

The best being Reaper, where you have not any limitation of any kind in the demo.

I also love the demos or limited versions of Zebra or Dune, they are totally usable. But I decided they were not the synths I need, whereas Spire immediately inspired me!

I don't think anyone wants to see you get banned. We just don't put up with piracy here; there really is no excuse for it.

Post

Ok. :)

So, by any chance, does someone here on this thread has an idea on how I can get notified when new releases of Spire are available? (other than by checking this thread, I mean?)

Thanks! Will now test 1.04 and compare it to 1.02 to see if CPU usage is a bit better.

some developers send out email, many don't. so...easy enough to check here, or the spire facebook page (or just the reveal-sound site...).

it WOULD be great if ALL developers sent email notices to plugin owners....

I'm not trying to defend piracy or get involved in the argument. I just have a compulsive habit of fact checking. Whatever it's worth, this claim is actually based on real research. He's not making it up.

Ooh, I did not know a research had been done... I was simply talking by experience... working with software engineers, I knows dozens of heavyweight downloaders who spend an insane amount of cash to buy DVDs/BlueRays.
