You know when you dig out some trax and a certain part just grabs ya? Well, these two got me recently, so i was looking for ideas on how to emulate the FX on these sections....

FX-1 sounds like reverse reverb. Cleanest way is to record your track 100% wet with the 'verb, reverse the whole audio clip, splice it up and put it back in.

FX-2 is an effect I usually hear on guitars for like 70's tracks. Jsut tha warbly.... I keep thinking wah wah, but that's wrong. Ugh! I'm sure someone will nail it before I remember.

I thought it might be chorus/flanger, that seemed quite popular for that type of guitar sound in those days.

FX2 sounds like either a deep chorus/flange...or perhaps a Univibe, which is a kind of pseudo-Leslie vibrato effect (was definitely big in the 60's and 70's...Hendrix used them, as did Peter Frampton in the 70's for that kind of warbling effect near the very end of the live version of "Do You Feel Like We Do").

I've managed to get a pretty good Univibe sound on my Strat using a combination of mda Detune going into the mda Leslie.

BTW, the kick/verb FX is a recent dance tune, the guitar on FX is Tubeway Army, incase that might help.

FX1 sounds like a wet-dry verb automation on the saw bass. Easiest way to do this is send from the bass to a aux channel, verb on the aux, then MIDI-remote up the dry and wet faders.

FX2 sounds to be guitar->pedal->amp->cab. My guess on the pedal is a Electroharmonix Small Stone but Im not a guitar player.

The lack of high-end in this guitar tone makes it sound nice and warm. Guitars typically shouldn't have much of any content over 4khz or you get what I consider a plastic sound..

also, I think the gentle phaser (synthi?) on the drums really adds to the quality of the guitar sound (two modulating elements... 1+1=3

Actually, if it really is a Univibe kind of thing, it's a bit of a combination of tremelo (amplitude modulation over time) and vibrato (frequency modulation over time)....then stir until well-blended...

Benni Bennassi, no?

He had a BIG hit with "Satisfaction" and it still tears up the dance floor. although I don´t know what tune the clip comes from.

so you want to sound like him then? better not, that sound is so obvious and the music is allready considered "old"
His track satisfaction has been played to death imo.

Edit: I might have written a tad conflicting replies but when I mean old...the track is known by the majority of JOE SHMOES.

Just really reminds me of "If" by Bread. That warbly kinda sound. Have had that effect playing through some massive multi-effects guitar processors before, but I'm left with my Pod instead.

FX1 sounds like heavily compressed reverb, but I might be wrong....perhaps some kind of sidechaining?
FX2 I'm not familiar with, it does sound like it's from the '70s though.

Fx1 - aye , reverse reverb

fx2- definitely sounds like a phaser/chorus/small delay combo to me, not univibe (though that is a top effect -the simanalog one is marvellous). I had a f**k about with the classic phaser and chorus + JCM900 for a cab sim and got quite close, but no ceegar. I reckon the chorus is probably a BOSS CE2 (anorak!) Chorus on guitar is for girls anyway!
