The layout is good, but it is all a bit smallish, some labels are very hard to read. The whole thing should be 1.5x as big. Somehow the size of controls has an influence on what I think of the rest of the synth, what I expect from it soundwise etc.

That is why at the end of the day I always come back to Noizemaker. Its user interface radiates solidity and strength, and it sounds accordingly. After using Phonec for half an hour and staring at that fragile interface, Noizemaker is like a painkiller :D

If the interface was still in early progress, I'd probably make it bigger, but it would take a lot of time to expand all aspects of the gui as it is. However, I will keep this in mind when designing guis for future projects. And I may still try to provide a slightly larger interface in a future Phonec update, but cant promise anything.

So what's up with Phonec?

I think Jack had something more important to construct recently

There is a PM promotion at the moment...

An update is planned after I release Dubtron v2.0, which will be very soon.

Thanks for the update to 1.4.
Width control for all waveforms, cool :)

Just noticed that (just like with the recent Tarkus update) since new parameters have been added, one has to open one's existing user presets and save them again. But make sure that the settings are like with your original preset as the settings for the new parameter will simply be carried over from the previous preset opened.

Just as I was starting to think about which new synth plugin this day would bring, there dropped in a mail message that phonec has been updated to v1.4

Proper plugin ESP :D

Thanks very much for the update :tu:

Phonec has been updated to v1.4.

Here's whats new:
  • -Overall sound improvemnts
    -New Pulse Width oscillator modes
-Added new switch for retriggering the oscillator phase on each note; produces a much more solid sound; excellent for outrun style basslines.
-New LFO & envelope targets: Filter attack/decay & pulse width
-Added invert switches to mod envelopes
-Sub Oscillator can now switch to square wave; produces a much fatter sound than sine
If you are a registered user you should have received an email with download details, if not, send me a PM.

There are some new controls, but they should have defaulted to the original settings, as if they were never added. For example, the SubOsc should default to sine, retrigger should be set to 'off', etc. Any changes, if at all, would be minimal.

Strange, I just tried it again. Those parameters seem to default to the settings of the previously opened/modified preset. If I set sub osc to square and open an old user preset, it also defaults to square. Same for retrigger.

Plus, when I load an old preset and turn on, say, retrigger, I can't turn it off again in terms of sound, even if the light if off.

Never mind, I did the same with Tarkus, for dozens of presets :)
