Well in this case it's true.wald wrote:Probably just as wrong as yours that there's a direct relationship between CPU use and quality.EvilDragon wrote:No, you don't really NEED or MUST use SDRR on each and every damn channel. That's a wrong preconception.

The audio demos don't sound very good to me. Rather generic / digital sounding.

Hey Tony...
I was so anticipating this one but i have to agree; I rarely heard more disappointing sounding demos. I was really shocked because I like IVGI very very much and the DC8C is in constant use because of its great sound too. So I guess you just had a very bad day making demos...
You know what? : I'll buy it anyway since it is the most beautiful looking plugin I ever saw. I will put it onto my master in bypass mode if anything else fails....
Cheers

Let's ask the other way around. What do you want to "hear" as audio demos?
In which context?
These were just two examples with extreme settings. Did you expect a "omg wow, so much lowend" or something else?

No, just a "Hey that's VERY nice !" kind of response (not "God, that's plain distortion !").Compyfox wrote:Let's ask the other way around. What do you want to "hear" as audio demos?

That's the paradox plugin makers keep facing : having to dial extreme settings in order to illustrate what the plug is doing (coloration). make it "Audible". unfortunately, they fail time and again in this regard (well, maybe "fail" is a harsh word... lets say that they are victims of this miserable paradox).
I'll probably buy it anyway, as a way of supporting Tony (and given his track record), but the audio samples do not attract those who seek for subtle differences... (in 24bit wavs).

I don't think the plugin was created to be subtle at all. Again, the concept is on similar lines as SoundToys Decapitator.
Only that we don't have a the usual suspects here (meaning tape), but actually also plain digital distortion on top of a modified fuzz box and concepted tube/desk mode.
I can't present anything worthwhile at the moment, as it's simply not finished. But I used SDRR for roughing up drum hits and synthetic drum loops. I initually used IVGI for that, but SDRR added just more needed distortion.
To me, it's not a "saturator" as in form of "subtle and nice", I see it as devastation tool. And I clearly want to use it as that.
The Crosstalk Modes are an added bonus, for those that want to create a some sort of "console" setup with it. But most of the time, that mode is off on my end.

I've only had a short amount of time to play with this, but already I can see the enormous potential of this thing. It's a saturation toolbox with soo many options, it's just sick. But it's like any other audio effect in that the ultimate success lies within your ability to use it appropriately on each track or buss. If you need subtle, it will do subtle...and if you need it to punish your tracks, it will do that as well. But the value is clearly there and I'm looking forward to exploring all that it can do when I get a chance. Great job, Tony!
