Hi ... not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes ...

I bought the MAX upgrade from Cycling74 during the recent 25% off Ableton sale. I already owned Max4Live ...

I received my serial and authorisation instructions yesterday, and I installed the latest version of MAX from Cycling74's site. When I launch the software it says my demo has expired, and i must authorize the software in order to use it. When I click "authorize", the software crashes every time ...

The other problem is that my computer is NOT online, and all the instructions I was sent say I need an iLok to authorize, or I must connect to the internet. I was not aware of this when purchasing MAX, and do not wish to take my studio PCs online. I've always authorised Live and M4L using Abletons offline process.

Does anyone here know if it's possible to authorize Max offline? I have written to Cycling74 about these problems, but no reply as yet.

Thanks :help:

If you do not have internet access on the machine being authorized, or Internet Activation fails because of connectivity issues with our authorization server, you may attempt Manual Activation instead, and submit your Challenge string to the Challenge/Response Authorization Form

Thanks. I can't use the online form. The software crashes when i click "authorize", so I dont have a "challenge string" to put in the "challenge" field of the registration form.

Been talking to support at Cycling '74 for a few days now. No solution to Max locking up every time I try to authorise, so far ... very frustrating.

Yikes. How is the networking disabled on your system; is it a completely disabled device? Might be worth trying it with it enabled (but not connected).

Not sure I understand. Do you mean the wi-fi? My studio laptop has no connection to any network or the internet. The wi-fi is turned off.

Still no joy. It was suggested by support that the issue is likely with the PACE/interlok drivers (the copy protection) and I might consider re-installing Windows! Just to run Max. Not gonna happen.

I finally sorted this out. Turns out that the Pace/iLok drivers that Cycling '74 use have a problem with the program WindowsBlinds which I have installed on my XP laptop. Turning WindowsBlinds off during Max authorisation solved the conflict. Max 6 is up and running. Just got to learn how to use it now. ;)
