will be the first d16 product I don't buy.

Out of curiosity, why don't you like the GUI? Is it the Colors, Layout, Realism, Size? I'm genuinely interested in your opinion.

first it's the "brittleness" of it. it's all shine and glare. like it's trying to reflect the light into my eyes in an annoying class clown kind of way.

second it's the colors. the orange is awful for me. i hate it. it might as well be a super bright blue LED blinding me

third.. i hate dark grey buttons w/red/orange lights in them. always have. it seems a silly thing to do in software. on hardware that's a different story..i love a tr606... but i see no reason to make software look like that.

fourth.. well.. it looks like a 70s akai stereo and an 80s boom box collided. can't we move passed these kinds of conventions and just make a modern GUI?

i'm sure some skillful talented designer spent a lot of time making it look that way but it's just not very appealing to me.

I get the shine and glare bit. It seems like less is more these days when it comes to clarity. I'm always interested in GUI design so thanks dayjob for your view on this!

Looks like the release has been *puts on sunglasses* delayed.

EDIT: However, I might tone down the color a bit if it were possible to edit the GUI:

I think what people are responding to so strongly is less the look of the UI, which is pretty ugly but not the worst, and more to the fact that from a UX point of view it's a mess. It looks like someone just put all the elements on a screen in no particular order and just resized some stuff to make it fit. There's no logic or purpose to it. Add a bunch of fake 3d to that and what you have is a UI fail.

I read this a lot in marketing materials and I always think, "Who's using effects to make their drum loops interesting? Why not start with good drums and go from there?"

Did you follow the Lush-101 conversation when it was released? A good deal of it revolved around complaints that the UI was too big (because they put everything on a single panel). Just can't win no matter what.
There's a difference between putting a whole bunch of elements on a single screen, and forcing tabs because you're output "knob" is the size of the Death Star. There is an enormous waste of screen real estate on that UI. There could easily be an overview window on there giving you the basic state of each delay and allowing some basic editing.

marketing people assume that everyone is into polishing turds... because that's what marketing is.

I promise it will be worth your time.
I installed the demo and tbh, I wasn't that impressed. :(

I have ohmboys and RP Delay. Maybe there isn't anything better at the moment???
I think FabFilter Timeless and FXpansion Bloom are quite cool, unique delays, too.
Tried Bloom and tried to like it. But no filters in the feedback signal? Or somthing like that.

Timeless I am going to re try. I like ff stuff.
I'm a bit of a delay junky too. I've got Ohmboyz and RP... but oddly I've yet to install them on my new machine. Ohmboyz is the king of bad UI and RP... kind of boring I think. I got it on a no-brainer sale and honestly didn't use it much.

Timeless is great. I use it a lot. I agree with you on Bloom. There was something about the audio pathway that bugged me too much and frankly I just didn't dig the sound that much.

Want a delay with a kick ass filter? Your search is at an end(er) Audio Damage's Dr. Device destroys worlds. It's got game! :hihi: (I should go to work for the world's worst advertising firm)

One delay that rarely gets mentioned here is Expert Sleeper's Augustusloop. First of all, it's got the most awesome name ever, even better than Dr. Device. Second, it's tape saturation sounds great and third, you can play the delay time with midi notes while it's looping for super cool fun times.

Let's face it, 9 out of 10 times I load up Audio Damage's Dubstation and I'm done. TAL's DUB is also very good.

Anyway, I've got more delays, but if I did a survey of all of them it would take all day. I'm curious on this one despite it's cluttered UI and I'm already in love with U-He's Satin, though technically delay is only part of it's function. Sounds great on the main buss as well when going for an old school vibe.

TBH if D16 release this as is they would be sill (imo). After all these negative comments. I would be working on the design and getting some feedback.

i love the ohmboyz delay. i think it sounds amazing.. especially when modulated. it does that better than anything imo. i know the gui is weird.. i use the funky skin and i like that one better than the plain skin which to me is harder to grasp for some reason. the modulation system is easy and complete.. the saturation + filters are awesome. it's so present. transients are punchy and clear. i love it.

it's not my go to for everything but it's one of my fav all time plug ins.

i like FF timeless2 a lot. the modulation is just nuts. it can do so much and i like the sound of it.

there are so many delays.. all different. i love trying them out. but this D16 gui is a deal breaker.
