I had Claes on the phone yesterday. He confessed me that he underestimated the work load when he photoshoped the screens.
Pablo has done his best, but he cannot leverage more funds.
They have to release their work "as is", before the end of the year.

Thanks. I think the first part, that they underestimated something, was pretty obvious. The second part, potential funding issues, seems "semi-obvious" given how long they've been developing it without any income stream... assuming the staff are full time employees.audioird wrote:I had Claes on the phone yesterday. The third part - that they actually will release before the end of the year - is the most definitive news as I've ever heard about a Bitwig release. Good news for those waiting. There are only 90 days or so left in the year so... let the party begin for those waiting.

Interesting, but I'm calling B.S. on it ... just my 2 cents.
Peace,

Well... in fairness... those two things are not contradictory. Maybe he left - because - he couldn't secure additional funding?garyboozy wrote:yup. last i heard, pablo left BW a couple of months back.ZenPunkHippy wrote:Interesting, but I'm calling B.S. on it ... just my 2 cents.

People gotta eat.
Not saying the original comment is true. I have no clue. Just saying, him leaving doesn't by itself doesn't seem contradictory to the comment about him not being able to secure funding.
I mean, all good dreams aside, if you have a mortgage to pay, 2-3 months could be the difference between foreclosure or not... so sometimes those choices aren't so much choices as necessities.

Funny Live 9.1 beta has dual monitor support , makes you wonder if Bitwig is just a distraction for Live users to wait for while Live slowly gets these features ? Who knows maybe Ableton is funding Bitwig not to release it ? Just seems kind of funny its not out yet .

Maybe a little bit semantics of grammar, but I do get your point anyway.garyboozy wrote:maybe, but then......should have been "...did his best, but he could not..."Pablo has done his best, but he cannot leverage more funds.

Being compared to Ableton (but not as fully featured (yet!)) makes you wonder, how much will it cost for its 1.0 release? Surely this ain't gonna be a $99 product considering the years of development? European Summer 2013 is about to end soon. The expectations for a release and features in 1.0 are higher than ever.

How do you know they have no income stream ?LawrenceF wrote:The second part, potential funding issues, seems "semi-obvious" given how long they've been developing it without any income stream... assuming the staff are full time employees.
They got funding to start this project and it would be pretty silly to think that the info as released was not done so to garner further development funding from investors (look how it coincided with industry events)
If this gets released i would hazard a guess (Notice guess) that this will be one of the most controlled by the marketing board releases that ever existed.
Again guessing i would assume that a completely silly amount of money has been spent paying these guys to come up with this software (Their offices are better than most successful audio companies haha)
The marketing team/board of directors/debtors will want this out and the buzzword additions will be added in short order, buggy or not to recoup development costs through upgrade pricing.
The question that begs asking right now is this, if they have been funded by outside influence (pretty obvious, again check their offices haha) then how have they managed to drag the release date so long.
That can only really mean one of two things
1 The software is so useless right now it can't be released
2 It is a complete scam from the get go
I very much doubt 2 no matter what anybody says because of some of the people involved, so 1 looks more and more likely, they simply do not have a usable app at this point.
The very problems this app was trying to negate are now being visited by the apps it would have been in direct competition with and others it would not have been in direct competition with it now will be because of addition from their developers, so right now the developers at Bitwig have to either be pulling their hair out or just remain completely blinkered and oblivious to the fact that what they once thought was unique and awe inspiring is now just so so and could well be a major commercial failure.

Again. Take a look at their site.bungle wrote:How do you know they have no income stream ?LawrenceF wrote:The second part, potential funding issues, seems "semi-obvious" given how long they've been developing it without any income stream... assuming the staff are full time employees.

See any other products?
Now, unless there is some form of private venture capitol involved there really is not a lot of revenue stream there. Even then, any form of venture capitol is going to have some kind of performance test. Such as product.

Because they aren't selling anything yet?.bungle wrote:How do you know they have no income stream ?
Investor or start up funding - even if it's your own money - is not income, it's investment. Income comes from sales or services of which (afaik anyway) the new company that is Bitwig has not had as of yet.
If you know of a way that Bitwig has generated income without selling anything, I'd be interested to hear what that might be.

perhaps you should take another look at their site..
"This project is co-Financed by the European Union - ERDF."
that would be a revenue stream, may have dried up, but is a revenue stream and as it says CO-FUNDED, that infers other funders, so i would assume nothing right now.

Not to get all accountant here, but income is any inward stream of money, it does not have to come from sales/services and income by its very nature can come from investors.LawrenceF wrote:ncome comes from sales or services of which (afaik anyway) the mew company that is Bitwig has not had as of yet.
