What exactly would it take in an RMX 2 upgrade to take it from useless to useful for you?

Just asking.
I'd love to see an iPad app like Omni TR for Stylus RMX (v1 or v2). I started making my own with Lemur, but a dedicated app for triggering stuff on the fly, adjusting the Time and Chaos designers, etc. would be very awesome.

Sorry, but I will not waste my time naming all the things Stylus RMX is behind of compared to other, similar software as this has been done in the last 15 pages extensively.
If you are using current software of other companies you must be aware of that, no offense really..., just saying :) 8)

Not looking for an argument, just asking for a little clarification. I guess I just have a hard time fathoming that anybody could find an instrument as diverse as Stylus RMX to be "unusable" (although, I suspect that you're exaggerating a bit to make a point, and that's cool). I mean, it's compatible with pretty much every host, has a huge and diverse library, tons of editing options and built-in effects, the Chaos and Time designers, and of course, you have nearly limitless options with external plugin FX. That's not to say that there isn't room for improvement (there definitely is), but I don't think that it needs a complete overhaul. Then again, I still find it very usable after all these years.

On your second point, there aren't too many drum plugins that I don't own, or haven't previously owned, and I wouldn't say that Stylus is really "behind" compared to any of them. It's a very unique product compared to e.g., Maschine, Battery, Geist, Tremor, uTonic, BFD2, SD2, SSD4, etc. I just hope that, if there is a sequel, it builds upon the same concept as the original, rather than becoming another "me too" drum sampler or x0x-style drum synth. Hell, one could easily argue that those other drum synths are lagging behind Stylus RMX for not incorporating some of its unique features. Just saying :D

+1, I find the RMX interface plenty useful after all these years. It gives you all the controls you need at your fingertips in a straightforward GUI with minimal f**king around. I have Geist but still prefer RMX for loops. Would I like some improvements? Sure. but it's actually one of the best experiences I've had with a drum VST, and I still feel the same way in 2013.

I think it's clunky. I don't even have it installed here. I'd prolly sell it but they are disastrous at transfers. Then it would be minus 50 bucks.......so poop on that idea.

Actually, I was hoping there would be a new shiny version that I simply could not live w/o to upgrade to

Post

The Spectrasonics development team is too busy burning instruments, and recording them for the next update of Omnisphere. I guess they are too busy having fun doing that to bother with RMX2 :D

But... Seriously, I would love to see them Release Stylus RMX2 in the near future... which could mean ... whenever they get it ready for release... maybe by the year 2020

Post

I think it's coming and will integrate better with their other instruments for live playing.

I agree with all that's been said...Stylus is my main rhythm box for many reasons, though I also love Damage, Arturia Spark, etc., but on the other hand it has some very clunky features, such as Edit Groups, which is a great feature, but clunky to use.

I wonder whether it'd be possible to blend the musical flexibility of REX files with the sonic quality of multi-sampled, round robin instrument samples. Now that would be a goal worthy of Eric Persing. I'd also like to see the instrument editing be more like NI's new drum thing, what's that called? LOL

I too would love to see RMX 2 and would have no problem paying good money for the upgrade, but to say that RMX as it currently sits is, "unusable" is ludicrous IMO. I have all the new latest and greatest percussion software and still keep using RMX....which is a testament to what a great piece of software it is. Stylus came out over 10 years ago and has had dozens of updates since, and is still widely used by professionals all over the globe. Not many vst instruments....if any, can say that. If Stylus doesn't work for you, use something else that does. I'm sure Spectrasonics will eventually release a Stylus RMX 2...then people can start complaining again.... about not getting the RMX 2 update for free.

This thread is so old that my feelings have changed a bit, lol: I'm being careful what I wish for.

Anything new Spectrasonics does is going to cut a wide swatch, but RMX2 (I don't think it will be called that) in particular poses a lot of questions because they're a lot of simple things that could be done that would make it more convenient to use... but Spectrasonics really doesn't do simple.

So I'm guessing this will be something expensive & something I must have immediately. Eric has promised announcements this year & it's almost October, so no one is getting Christmas presents this year except Spectra-fiends. I feel evil. :help:

Well, evil hands are happy hands (5 points if you can remember where that came from)

I'll even give you a clue (and no it's not the phantom menace)

Anyone knows the birthday date of Spectrasonics? This year is their 20th anniv, supposed to be the perfect time to celebrate with RMX 2.0

I actually was just thinking about rmx 2 the other day - I always thought it could of been the ultimate drum solution... I've picked up maschine and it's an amazing complete drum solution for me. It's too late, that ship has sailed... and I'm a spectrasonics fanboy.

Post

I think basically everyone has stopped caring now until the day when the new stuff is released or teased.

They've been working hard for some time now, so I'm sure the new products and upgrades will be significant and great as ever (as you can expect from Spectrasonics) but there's simply not much point discussing it util something concrete arrives. :shrugs:
