I doubt it- it isn't just the shape of the connector, it still needs to be able to be a USB host. You could ask them on FB, they are pretty good about responding.
BTW, the reason I brought up A vs B connectors is not that that in itself is the issue, just that it gives you a visual idea about what you are trying to hook up to what. If that makes any sense....

My next step in experimenting has been successful as well. I now have my Novation Remote SL speaking to my iPad thru the iCM2, and recording midi and audio from iPad into Live. There were a variety of settings I needed to update. I am using the Midi out of the Remote, not the USB. All is going well and next step is to try to add the PC in place of the iPad.

Could be nice if Iconnectivity provide space to share some of these 'Iconfig' presets (settings)...
Ok, I guess I have to send off for the power-supply to have the Ipad charged through ICM2+...
Anyone figured out a way to have the Ipad transfer files (Itunes) to/from (ok, I think they call it sync) the host computer?

I'm still waiting for mine. I got worried when they ran out, but was able to find one online. Anyone here use it to run 2 DAWs in sync yet? I need to in order to have a backup system running. Either 2 laptops or a laptop and another daw in the iPad would be good.

I am thinking about one of these units to help get high quality audio out of the ipad, and for NO other reason. If I make the change to the iconnectmidi2+ then I am concerened I might loose the functionality that I currently have, I would like to know if that functionality remains:
Current setup: Jailbreak and use USB cable to connect to OSX, then using Network Midi for Midi apps and also OSC (throuh Bonjour) to use the Touchable app to control Ableton. If I go this route do I loose my ability to use Touchable and Network Midi? I want good audio but I really like my setup now with almost no latency.
Thanks,
RDP

Greetings,
When I first bought this unit, I was having trouble getting it to work on any of my Windows machines. iConnectivity was very responsive and helped me reset my firmware, which solved the problem. I feel much better about my purchase now.
The hardware is built very well, and looks fantastic. The concept of allowing for 2 different machines (whether Mac, PC or iOS) interconnect with a single MIDI/USB device is sheer genius! Did I mention the built in midi filtering/routing/and processing built into the hardware? That alone could be worth the price of this interface.
This is a perfect midi device for routing MIDI from your OSX apps directly to your Windows 7 apps running inside of Parallels on your Mac. That's how I am using it, and it works great with very low latencies.
Great product and a great company. Highly recommended!

Anyone found an alternative power supply for the 'iConnectMIDI22+ Optional Power Transformer'
http://iconnectivity.com/iConnectMIDI2% ... ransformer
I find it difficult to pay $15 S/h and having to wait God knows how long for it to arrive.. Pretty sure there must be an alternative..
It's the reason I bought this Iconnectmedi2+... To have my Ipad always charged..

So, after trying this unit out I find that the iConnectMIDI2+ is an improvement over the original iConnectMIDI if you are doing iOS connectivity, as it will power your i-Device, and provide Audio PassThrough. But, if you need USB-MIDI device connectivity like the original product included, its not there.
I just bought an iConnectMIDI2+ and it turns out that I need the USB-MIDI, so I would love to trade this brand-new iConnectMIDI2+ for an older, original iConnectMIDI. It includes all the cables, box, etc, and I also have the optional power supply I will include so you can power everything "computer free." If interested, drop me a note at johnbakertunes.com and we can figure out shipping. Or just reply here. Thanks.

Thanks for the info!
What do you mean by "a step backwards"?
Peace,
Thanks.

The iConnectMIDI had a mini-USB port, which could send MIDI data to and from a USB-MIDI device. The iConnectMIDI2+ no longer has this ability. So, it added some features (for iOS devices), but dropped this one!
It still supports legacy MIDI devices that have a traditional DIN5 MIDI port, however.

Weird .. are you absolutely sure about that? AFAIK - and according to the sepcs on the product page it sill supports all USB - MIDI for regular computers:
http://www.iconnectivity.com/iConnectMIDI2plus
* USB MIDI Class Compliant
* MultiHost Capability - Connect 2 Computing Devices Simultaneously
* Supports MAC, PC, and iOS Computing Devices
I don't mean to question your comments (you have it and I don't!) but it does sound ... like a strange choice ...
Peace,
Andy.

Weird indeed, Andy, and I sympathize with your confusion. I was not a happy camper after I sold my iConnectMIDI, ordered the replacement iConnectMIDI2+, and received the unit. I assumed the device would support USB-based MIDI devices.
After burning hours trying to get the device to talk to my USB MIDI devices, I contacted support, and received a disappointing note:
"Thank you for contacting us. The iCM2+ does not support USB-MIDI devices. There is no USB type-A port connection for hosting purposes. The iCM2+ will also charge one iOS device via port 1 with our optional adaptor (not included). My apologies if this now appears to not meet your needs for functionality."

Thanks. So you are referring to plugging in e.g. a Novation USB MIDI keyboard directly in to the iConnectMIDI2+ USB port? I was reading it as USB MIDI -> Computer not working, but yeah if that's that case it's still annoying.
USB MIDI connectivity doesn't bother me so much, as I don't use that feature of the existing device much but I agree, it's a strange thing to remove. Maybe it caused to many problems with compatibility.
Peace,
Andy.

Yep, you got it right. You CAN send MIDI into the unit through a DIN5 cable, and then to your computer via USB. But no support for USB-MIDI (non DIN) devices.
I thought it was strange to remove support also, because USB-MIDI support worked flawlessly on my original unit. Perhaps they wanted to avoid the expense of the mini-USB port? I don't get it.
As they suggested, I could order an iConnectMIDI4+, but it is more than 2X more than what I need (more than twice as heavy, more than twice as big, and costs more than twice as much!).
