@Guillermo:
Let's bring up the "Steinbeg listens to their customers" thing again.
Any chance to see the FR with the insert handling (like Logic, S1, Protools!), that so many people posted and requested, actually being ported? Or is this yet another waste of time to re-bump that in the Steinberg FR threads?
Actually, Steinberg also gave a <censored> about my FR with the EBU R-128 meter configuration. So why did I waste an evening to post a list with 21 FRs, if Steinberg is like "cool and such - but have you seen what WE did for YOU?! Even though YOU don't need it?! Now isn't that awesome?!"

I don't want to add to the prior discussion, I don't want to ignore it either, still I think my post fits into this thread.
Does somebody have a screenshot of the mixer channel names?
What I find is, that in 7.0.5., a lot of space is wasted for the "..." in the middle and for big margins left and right.

So I understand in 7.0.6. the names get wrapped on two lines. But if you have a lot of channels then the space is pretty narrow, so "Guitar" might even be too long and would be displayed as "Gu..r"? How are your experiences with the new channel name formatting?

I have to concur here - just have been testing C7 (0.6) for the first time ever, and usability-wise, this is plain sub-optimal, the inserts are way more fiddly and harder to handle with a mouse on a big screen than in the old mixer.Compyfox wrote:This usage is still unintuive as funk!Guillermo Navarrete wrote:Here is the screenshot:

BTW, is it normal that in the Channel Settings window the mute and solo keyboard shortcuts don't work?
And is there a way to open the Plugin windows of a VTSi-Channel in the mixer as before? That nice little keyboard button?
All in all there are some nice ideas in the new mixer, but why on earth would one change things that people are used to for years, layout and key commands and key/mouse combinations (e.g. reassigning multiple tracks to a new out/group is now "shift-alt-click" instead of just "shift-click". "shift-click" does weird things.)
[EDIT: alt-mouse modifier is hell for left hand mouse users!!]
Well, let's go give the contenders a try.

Thanks Aiynzahev!
So they dropped that "..." thing completely it seems. In your example you only see "Zebra2" for all the channels. I guess you have to introduce spaces so it gets wrapped.

Hi,
Updated from 7.0.5 to 7.0.6 and here is what I get :
My Inserts window show only a blank black window
The Panners in the Mix-Console look like little square dots
Steinberg please post a update that fixes this version.
Cubase 7.0.6 is totally not usable at this time for me.
Here are two pics to show you what I'm talking about :

I had the same issues, at first thought I was crazy because I couldn't figure out how to add inserts.
If you're like me and have upgraded every .0.1 version, you need to uninstall Cubase, reinstall using the core installer (available on the website) or original disks, then install the 7.0.6 update. That fixed it for me.

Hi illkind,
Thanks for the feedback. But.. this is INSANE !
I would rather not deal with un-installing then Installing, then updating Cubase 7 just because Steinberg screwed up big time. They need to fix it on their end.
Hope they post a fix-patch to this update ASAP.
Cheers,
Muziksculp

Agreed.fese wrote:I have to concur here - just have been testing C7 (0.6) for the first time ever, and usability-wise, this is plain sub-optimal, the inserts are way more fiddly and harder to handle with a mouse on a big screen than in the old mixer.
Press longer on the E button with the mouse, then it should pop up.fese wrote:And is there a way to open the Plugin windows of a VTSi-Channel in the mixer as before? That nice little keyboard button?
Like I wrote earlier, the devs must have been stoned beyond recognition. But else, they give a funk about us users. Especially in here.fese wrote:All in all there are some nice ideas in the new mixer, but why on earth would one change things that people are used to for years, layout and key commands and key/mouse combinations (e.g. reassigning multiple tracks to a new out/group is now "shift-alt-click" instead of just "shift-click". Either that, since Steinberg funked up the install routines (no rollback function anymore), or... OS reinstall.illkind wrote:If you're like me and have upgraded every .0.1 version, you need to uninstall Cubase, reinstall using the core installer (available on the website) or original disks, then install the 7.0.6 update. With such an error, they will suggest that through the support channels. I've been there.

horrible.. i'm at a point where i really never would upgrade from C6.5 (despite the laughable "new price structure")
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

And I thought to myself, what could make me feel better about this thread?

People will still find a problem with this, file multiple FRs and complain endlessly.billcarroll wrote:And I thought to myself, what could make me feel better about this thread?
