Would be interesting. A super Matrix could replace my Ableton Live Lite. I wonder what else they upgrade like V-Vocal, Pianoroll, dedicated Sample Window, Dimenson Pro, Drumplayer ...Spiritos wrote:Anyone knows if the Matrix View is getting a boost? (towards the direction of Live's Session View)

Hope they publish new Rapture and Dimension pro. Don't like their GUI at all. Both are old as sky

This is that time of year when Cakewalk usually releases a new Sonar

X3 users also seem to have upgrade paths to Lounge lizard and strum acoustic at the Cake shop. Pretty neat if it's those session versions that are included. I already have Tassman, String studio and Strum electric full versions so those sessions wouldn't have been of any use to me.

According to an official member of cake in their forum it is said, that "future products" will appear on STEAM. Dont know if this new handling is the right way, i thought that this will only happen to their entry level software .

I'm not sure if public perception of software on steam are what Cakewalk wants the more expensive sonar's image to be, so some lost users and scared away potentials there. I'm pretty sure they would loose some users because of the technicalities as well. But steam as a new market might more than make up for both of these if it's just about money, which it normally is.juffi wrote:According to an official member of cake in their forum it is said, that "future products" will appear on STEAM. Of course it depends on if users will be forced to steam or not as well.
For me it would be another little nudge away from Cakewalk. But old love die hard.

Along with a thread on Cakes forum discussing it.hibidy wrote:Removed it seems.Resonant- Serpent wrote:http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/Pro ... MC2.00-20E
Together with some other small (mended) "leaks" it kind of feels like X3 is really eager to bust out of its box and the Cakers try hard to lock it in until the right time. That might be a good sign maybe...

Steam is just another way to distribute software. You can use software products in Steam offline mode and VSTs work fine in DAWs that weren't purchased on Steam. Of course, all the software on Steam is also available through worldwide dealers and on Cakewalk, so you can choose how you want to purchase the product. I would think choice is ultimately a good thingbeltrom wrote:I'm not sure if public perception of software on steam are what Cakewalk wants the more expensive sonar's image to be, so some lost users and scared away potentials there. I know about steam for videogames basically - and there is some special authorizing going on through steam.AROSSA [Cakewalk] wrote: Steam is just another way to distribute software. How about Cakewalk bought on steam - will authorizing be different than retail versions?
As of now, the no hazzle authorizing is one strong point for Cakewalk, compared to how many others do it.
Entering some kind of offline mode to use it does not seems attractive to me.
Thanks.

Sort of reminds me of Beetlejuice trying to shut up the skeleton's in the closet.

Nothing wrong with more choices. But the day Sonar is only available through Steam is the day I buy Studio One.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Steam installation is actually pretty well received by users. Your download is saved on the cloud, automatic updates, easy registration. Like I said before, this is just another way to reach new customers. Not such a bad thing IMHO.lfm wrote:I know about steam for videogames basically - and there is some special authorizing going on through steam.AROSSA [Cakewalk] wrote: Steam is just another way to distribute software.
