Excellent! Thank you very much for posting this, I found that TB MIDI Stuff also has editors for my Andromeda, MKS-50, FS1R, and TX81Z! I think I'll use this to finally transfer all my Andromeda patches over to DCAM! :)

Post

Ingos demos. my comments.

Pulse 2 - Tech Stab RL

Nice pluck.

Pulse 2 - Bad Rocker RL

Distortion sounds good.

Pulse 2 - Fake Delays RL

Nice. Like the tetra's env 3 re-trigger. Very useful feature!

Pulse 2 - I

Very cool. Will sound good with bandpass too.

Pulse 2 - Autobahn Bass

Basic but deep!

Pulse 2 - Acidizer JD

This is a great patch for showing this type of sound (303/Acid). I use this sort of thing in my tracks and this sounds good on the pulse 2.

Pulse 2 - Organics 1 CG

This thing is a dirty bitch! :x

I had the same impression when i first listened to that patch.

There are several other patches from Christian Gritzner that are great IMO.

Currently there should be around 355 presets that were designerd for the Pulse 2 (besides the original Pulse 1 presets) so the will be lot to explore.

As already mentioned further patches will be maybe published with an update.

I plan to post a ZIP file with all my single patch Sysex files soon which also includes a few patches not included with the current factory content (around 4 patches at the moment) but with a few of my audio demos.

Those single Sysex files could be loaded into the Pulse 2 with a Sysex software (i am using "SendSX" for Windows) and are the loaded into the edit buffer. You could then choose your desired memory location and then save the patch there (with SHIFT + Store buttons).
This way it is also possible to sort patches alphabetically without using a dedicated editor. You first sort the single files and the load them into subsequent memory locations.

Like i guess i already had mentioned somewhere there is a clever way to edit the patch names when saving them with the Pulse 2.
Patch names consist of 14 characters which are split into two parts with 7 characters each (those two parts could be selected with the two buttons below the display). For those 7 characters each one has a dedicated knob in the Pulse 2 interface then (the one below the display + the 6 at the editing matrix).
That way editing patch names is quite fast and easy.

With each patch also a category could be saved and with the SHIFT button pressed and the main encoder (that below the display) you could select a category (default value: ALL). If you the browse the patches only patches of that category will be shown.
You could get this back to normal by setting the category to ALL again.

BTW the SHIFT button is the lowest/last at the editing matrix.

The UTILITY menu (loaded with SHIFT + Utility) also includes features like "Init Sound", "Recall Sound" (= reload the current patch wthout latest changes) and "Compare sound". With "Dump Sound" you could send the Sysex data for the current patch (while "Dump All" sends all patches).

Here is a ZIP file that contains all of my current Pulse 2 MP3 demos (currently 66 single presets demos):

Quality of the MP3 files is 320 kbps CBR at 44.1 kHz.

This is really useful. I should be getting the Pulse sooner that I expected now. Cant't wait.

Hi, thanks for the demos.

I just checked them and i guess those are demos of the factory sounds?

I compared with those at my Pulse 2 and found that the patches P022 ("Bassic") and P187 ("Retro Bass RL") sound different here.

I just did two WAV file demos of those two patches here:

P022 - Bassic
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... Bassic.wav
P187 - Retro Bass RL
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... s%20RL.wav

Could you check the patches at your Pulse 2 (without recording)?

Please could you also check if the names are identical and tell me the right name if it is different. It would be nice if you could give all full patch names for the demos you published.

BTW you could try to do filter auto-tuning before you se the Pulse 2 the first time.
Here is the procedure (this could be loud so please turn down the volume at you mixer):

1.) press SHIFT + Utility (SHIFT button is the lowest/last button at the edit matrix)
2.) with the cursor buttons (below the display) go down to "FILTEr TUNE"
3.) press SHIFT + Utility again and auto-tuning should start. The display should go back to the patch/default screen after that automatically

UPDATE:
Just got a PM that the patches in the demos were modified a little which explains the difference.

The filter auto-tune procedure i posted at the end of this post could be also helpful for other users.

I haven't yet heard any of the face melting, paint peeling, stonking great sound that I thought I remembered from my old Pulse.

Have I imagined that?

With the majority of the 66 patches where i posted demos now they are using new features like the multimode filter, new waveshapes, paraphonic sounds, Unison modes and the VCA drive modes.

Anyway some patches should also have shown that the Pulse 2 could sound really fat or "evil" (e.g. the orhgan and Guitar like sounds in one of my latest posts above.

I just started doing demos from patches of other sound designers (see above) and plan to post more of those.

Presets are a matter of taste and even if i post demos of all factory sounds still someone would say he doesn't like those sounds i guess...

No, you're not imagining that, I get it from my Pulse 1 and I'm also not hearing it from Ingo's demos.

Ingo, instead of using the new distortion, how about just a simple Pulse 1 style patch with all 3 oscillators at around 110 feeding the LPF?

Post

Please post an example of Pulse/Pulse+ sounding better than Pulse 2 with equivalent settings. I'm interested in hearing that.

   8)

The demos of the p2 seem to lack a bit of the punch from what I remember but I think I like the general tone a little better. It sounds a bit less Moogish to me.
(not that I don't like Moogs, lol)

(redundant post, bah, don't use the Back button after posting). Anyway, since I got this error:
Acid Mitch: I wasn't joking, by the way, I'm really interested to know what's better about it.

I have never used a Pulse 1 myself so maybe that's an advantage as i could use and program it without having a certain sound in mind.
The new features including the Drive make it superior to me anyway.

Anyway i just made 3 more demos using "basic" features. those are WAv files for better quality so maybe you have to download before playing.

Two patches are also supposed to be replications of the Pulse 1 presets where i modified one of them.

1.) This is a modified version of one of my patches. Those are 3 sawtooths in 3 different octaves. Osc volumes are set to maximum (= 127). No drive used. Filter is the LPF with 24dB. At 1:30 in that demo i started tweaking the Cutoff and later also the Resonance.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... ks%201.wav

2.) An Arp with modified Osc volumes, patch name "My Favourite":

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... edited.wav

Aftertouch used for further modulation.

3.) A Bass sound (single Osc) called "Bass By Rob" (not modified):

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... %20Rob.wav

Modwheel used for further modulation.
