What struck me odd about Cakewalk was they never adapted or adopted Roland type sound libraries. And Roland never really developed controllers specifically for cakewalk that would be on par with... Say Abelton Live and Push.

Gibson has had a habit of buying almost dead names and hiding them in a corner. occasionally pulling them out on special occasions like Valley Arts. With little interest in midi will Gibson let Cakewalk chart it's own path or will Gibson be proactive in Cakewalk development?
