i'm with you guys. Well... i stopped behind you at 8.5, but, you know, i'm with you in spirit/morally.hibidy wrote:I was waiting for someone else to do that before I didTheoM wrote:what a joke. They refuse to update the POS X2, refuse to let me sell it, then will want money for X3. I officially hate cakewalk. There. And i know they are simply too incompetent to program a stable host.
It's like all these bits of ancient parts put together in one big mess. Good riddance. (sorry, been burned, an still pissed).
Not getting my money. That money can go to something more important.
@speculation: Other than a paid bug fix (with of course many new ones introduced) I expect very little from this update. It's bloated to the max already.

i have started to wonder which bugs Cakewalk have marked as "Will Not Fix - Upgrade Bait".
If they have VST3, does that mean that the VST plug-in function has finally become new fully native code, or is it still a wrapper with a VST3 update to it?
So, now that ARA is included in Sonar, i assume that means V-Vocal is gone? i could never get it to work without crashing, and i'm not going to buy X3, so i don't care, but if V-Vocal is removed, then lots of users who DID manage to get it to work will care, because they'll have to render all their V-Vocal clips to plain audio before moving to X3.
That comment about Sonar's plug-ins all being abandonware was pretty funny, too...

I don't get why all you guys who have supposedly left Sonar for good are the guys who seem to spend the most time posting in these Sonar threads. We get it. Cakewalk broke your heart and now you've moved on. It happens and, fortunately, there are other DAWs in the sea. So, why don't you just move on then, rather than continuously telling us about how you've moved on? Geez, you guys must drive your ex's batty.

That's exactly it. Our hearts were broken. We're scarred. Worse, some of us actually would go back to Sonar if it ACTUALLY was FIXED. Spending a lot of money and time (and frustration) on something for years leads to a kind of mild PTSD. It's not "freak out and can't leave the house" kind of PTSD, but it's still a trigger for an emotional reaction. We're already on the forum. i certainly don't look for forums where people are talking about Sonar. It was a focus for me, as a user, for many years. i used to read Sonar threads to find people who had GOOD things to say about it, because i wasn't yet sick of it myself.cryophonik wrote:I don't get why all you guys who have supposedly left Sonar for good are the guys who seem to spend the most time posting in these Sonar threads. How about we all take a deep breath and wait until X3 is officially released and all the new features and changes are disclosed before spreading more misinformation?Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk] wrote: X3 has very deep ARA integration with Melodyne (or any other future plugins that support the ARA protocol). Both ARA and VVocal fall under the region FX umbrella and are equally supported. So VVocal will work exactly as before (in fact in some ways it works better). As long as its installed from a prior version of SONAR old projects containing it will load fine.
Take lanes have gone through a massive update and the implementation is light years ahead of anything in prior versions. There are new tools, and commands. If you do a lot of audio comping, this new comp tool will be very useful. Don't go by the sparse info in what you saw. There are tons of deeper features in X3. There will be marketing videos and articles that go into much greater depth with the features soon.

It's really out of the blue and kinda not necessary. Sorry you don't like us complaining about it.cryophonik wrote:Yeah, I get it. Well, it's obvious, isn't it? It's because they're not actually very happy with the daw they currently use.cryophonik wrote:I don't get why all you guys who have supposedly left Sonar for good are the guys who seem to spend the most time posting in these Sonar threads. And another thing, as a vested owner with cold hard cash invested, I feel the need to keep up with "cakeoholics annonymous" Didn't you know, this our meeting grounds!
All joking aside I didn't see it coming. I have to get shock therapy now.

Yeah, either way it's fine. DAWs change frequently and our perceptions change everyday so we will never be truely happy anyway lol.hibidy wrote:there, I fixed that.
