Yes, it is FM synthesis. Anyway compared to "traditional" FM synths the "NeoFM synthesis" is different in a few ways. Not allowed to tell technical details at the moment.

There's no doubt Fm Synthesis is somewhat of a dark art so anything or anyone that can make the process a user friendly experience gets my vote.

I like the way Tone2 has handled Synthesis in their previous releases, looking forward to NeoFm and keeping fingers crossed that they deliver another quality Synth.

The "new" feature in NeoFM is not just that it's more user friendly, that's for sure. :)

their synths have a need for more bread and butter presets I really don't use arps at all in my works

demos of famous presets would make me want to buy their synths. hint hint

I do think Rayblaster sounds like the best one and who knows maybe after I get more business rolling in I might add this one too my list

Post

I think Nemesis falls under the category "unique/distinctive", like RayBlaster, Alchemy, Gladiator, Massive, Harmor etc..

Cheers! :)

Well, all the hoopla is certainly interesting, but as usual, the demo will decide. There's room on the FM softsynth market, that's for sure. I'd be careful with words like "unique", or "not comparable", though. "Tons of unique features"? Like what? A rubber duck, or an ashtray? Oh wait, that's been done. Now something like FM resynthesis would really get me excited (dunno if that's even possible).

Anyhoo, audio demos now!

For me what would make or break it whether they go back to sensible design for mac like with gladiator and electraX where you could select a waveform directly, not have to click a toggle button seven times to get the one you want, and also have all their parameters and buttons automatable like they used to.

I can already imagine what it will sound like. ElectraX has some pretty nice fm functionality. But I would be interested to hear more complex fm routing from tone2. Tone2 synths have a tendency to not sound harsh but to sound a but plastic. This could work pretty well for FM as it can be harsh by nature.

I remember me carefully placing a rubber duck on Olga when making sounds for it :hihi:

I really am not fond of Rayblaster and didn't get into ElectraX or Gladiator either, but looking forward to hearing this one. I do like FM synthesis and don't find FM8 particularly difficult, so I'm intrigued.

Does it do 6-OP DX7 syx import?

Nope. Its structure is vastly different from regular FM synths.

Agreed. While some "old style" FM sounds are possible the engine is quite different to other FM synths.

It's planned that Nemesis will contain a HUGE factory presets library. Just checking the current version of the sounds and there are many that are amazing IMO.

How? I mean, FM is FM, right? You've got a carrier and a modulator. I'm assuming that the difference lies in the workflow, and not in the raw synthesis itself.

I guess you beta testers can't talk about it in-depth yet, so I'll just have to wait. A big preset library doesn't excite me, though. It's going to have to offer something beyond that.

No, it's really quite different, not just the workflow. You got indeed Carriers and modulators too in Nemesis.

Indeed not allowed to talk about details yet so at the moment i could not explain what exactly are the differences to other FM synths.
