Waldorf has published a new Pulse 2 OS v1.10 at their website:
http://www.waldorf-music.info/en/pulse2downloads.html
This also includes an updater software and a Pulse2 Sysex and CC parameter list.
That updater seems to be for MacOS.
v1.10 is also new for me (latest beta was 1.09 while the latest solid one was v1.07 which i used for my demos) so i have to check this myself to find out what has changed.
Three things that seem to be changed:
- new mod destinations
- different filter auto-tuning algorithm (with display of expected and current values in Hz)
- last used patch saved with power off
Based on the new filter tuning it is recommended to tune the filter again (see Utility menu and "Tune filter").
Important:
I have found that existing patches seem to be affected by this which i already reported at the beta forum. The solution seems to be to reduce the Drive amount by around 18-20 (this means the highest amount had a bigger effect than before).
(UPDATE: This seemed to be necessary as with older versions the volume with Drive amount at 0 was very low)
I'll have to check this further.
Some units seemed to be delivered with OS v1.05. For those (and also others) i currently would recommend to use OS v1.07.
I created a download link for OS 1.07 here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... e2V107.mid
For those that are not interested in the presets and want to start programming themselves it should not be a big problem to use OS v1.10.
Those who already created patches should reduce the Drive amount by around 20. Patches that don't use Drive should not need a corrections, except for the VCA volume maybe.
I am sure corrected factory sounds will be published soon.
Some tips for loading the OS to the Pulse 2:
- i am using Windows and the free MIDIBar utility from MIDI-OX seems to work nicely for sending the MIDI file to the Pulse 2
- For Sysex files (.syx) i am using Send SX v1.22
- update should noot be a big problem via USB but you could also try via MIDI cables (which is the safe way)
- You could try to press the SHIFT + Mod buttons while you power on the Pulse 2 which starts a special mode for receiving sysex data like the firmware/OS.

I haven't posted here for years but I went through the password reset routine to suggest you to stay away from this topic if it bothers you so much.Kriminal wrote:could you copy the whole manual and paste it here...or maybe record yourself reading it out loud and post the audio files?
If you don't like the Pulse 2 or the posts the TS makes for any reason just don't pay any attention to it and move on with your life........ others do see the added value!!
My guess is that you're not a 6 year old so stop acting like one.

Yes and also on the VCF drive curve there is an option "curve fx" which doesnt do anything at the moment, for all I know.acidfever wrote:Did anyone notice the "FX BRD : None" line in the information menu under utilities?
Suggests a FX upgrade option will be available at some point....

To contribute to the speculations:acidfever wrote:Did anyone notice the "FX BRD : None" line in the information menu under utilities?

The Pulse 2 indeed seems to be prepared for an expansion. If and when it will come is not clear. Some first ideas were discussed but that's still a secret of course.

Hi,sqigls wrote:Excuse me Ingo, i am looking at buying this synth, is it possible to tune the synth to 432Hz instead of 440?

in the Global menu you could either tune the synth by the frequency ("MASTERTUNE" parameter) with a range of 420-460 Hz (standard: 440 Hz) or by semitones (-24 to +24) with the "TRANSPOSE" parameter.
Those global settings will not be saved with the patch but when you power off the unit. I just tested that with a tuning of 432 Hz and this is kept after a power cycle. Currently used the new OS v1.10 (see my corresponding post at the top of this page).
Besides that all 3 Oscs have a Detune (= fine tune) parameter. Usually in other synths a fine tune parameter is only available for Osc 2 + 3. with the same detune amount/value for all Oscs you could tune a certain patch without adding "phasing",

Only other analog synth is a Moog Slim Phatty here. Not sure yet but maybe i'll sell that one in favour of the Pulse 2. also want to sell a few more plugins soon.sqigls wrote:Awesome, thanks for testing that for me. Remaining hardware would be Yamaha Motif ES 7, Korg Wavestation EX, Waldorf Blofeld desktop and Waldorf Pulse 2 then (besides lots of plugins including e.g. Diva, Monark, Saurus , TAL Bassline-101 and all Xils Lab plugins).

I'm no fuckin hippy. Until this last century, there were hundreds of accepted tunings. Now it's 440 or bust? Jeezus.hakey wrote:432 Hz

To answer an older question in the earlier Pulse 2 thread i found how to create a random patch in the Pulse 2.
You have to go to memory location P500 or P001 and flip between those two. If you then go back to P500 a new patch called "RANDOM" should be in the edit buffer which you could then save to the desired memory location.
To got a different random sound you do the same procedure again (flip between P500 and P001).

I also don't get what is so strange about someone asking to use a different tuning...sqigls wrote:I'm no fuckin hippy. Until this last century, there were hundreds of accepted tunings. Now it's 440 or bust? Jeezus.hakey wrote:432 Hz

hey ingo,
is there any news on the editor? what's happening there and when? will it be able to somehow load sysex (so you can check sounds BEFORE sending them to the pulse) or only the other way around?
