You can't export LFO shapes, but you can copy and paste shapes between instances.

so i can only buy one (thanks Mr. Slate!) and i have to decide between
wolfram by sonic labs
übermod by valhalla dsp
and pitchfunk
will demo them when i find some time. if anybody can already compare them, it would be nice.

Have been playing with this. I love to use Pitchfunk for pitched reverbs. And for everything else too. Very versatile and a crazy in a good way. Pairs great with Permut8 for complete audio destruction.

Since this discussion, is starting up... I was playing with Stutter Edit a few months ago and it occurred to me that Pitchfunk would be a prime candidate for a similar improvisational performance interface, allowing calling up presets on the fly by MIDI notes.

Are every algorithm really so glitchy? I mean it's almost impossible to get completely clean pitch shifting with Pitchfunk. I know that old hardware wasn't without artifacts but when listening newer software/hardware it sounds much "better".
It's not a big deal really because I bought Pitchfunk mainly for FSU stuff but maybe I could have some use for "perfect" pitch shifting too.

My one problem I'm having with PitchFunk is that when I'm experimenting with extreme settings I'm getting huge latencies, and the unit often goes into a sort of "sampler" mode where it's just playing back the audio slower or faster, and it gets really confusing and unintuitive.
I suspect I just need to learn how to use it better. Is anyone else having this problem? I've not used many pitch shifters, for beats I usually cut out the individual hits and just use the pitch bend.
Vertti, AFAIK Pitchfunk is supposed to be a "character" pitch shifter, based on old sampler and FX algorythms. Rather than realistic.

Yes and I appreciate that but I don't see why there can't be one realistic very "good" sounding algorithm too because sometimes you wanna that clean sound. And when your plugin is marketed as pitch shifter you don't wanna buy another plugin just for the more precise shifting.Sendy wrote:Vertti, AFAIK Pitchfunk is supposed to be a "character" pitch shifter, based on old sampler and FX algorythms. Otherwise I'm super happy with my purchase but like Sendy I have more to learn. The routing can feel a little unintuitive at times but I just have to use it more I guess.

But PF does do totally normal pitchshifting, just use the Syn/New mode and turn off all modulation sources, filters, delays and whatnot and set splice to around 50. Here is a very normal octave shifter for downloading (a zipped preset in the native PF format):Vertti wrote:Yes and I appreciate that but I don't see why there can't be one realistic very "good" sounding algorithm too because sometimes you wanna that clean sound. Thanks Simon for the preset.Sampleconstruct wrote:But PF does do totally normal pitchshifting, just use the Syn/New mode and turn off all modulation sources, filters, delays and whatnot and set splice to around 50. The output is still very grainy. I'll show you a picture using sine wave 100% wet.

I wouldn't call this very clean pitch shifting.
On the other hand the sync/old gives me quite a good result. That I could call a clean shifting. However it feels a bit counterintutive that the new algorithm products much worse sound.

I guess you wouldn't use it on a sine wave though
- for my ears it doesn't sound too bad when applied to natural instruments. I mostly use Melda's Harmonizer for basic shifting though, PF is more for experimental things in my toolbox.
