Actually, I already have a pair, but I may very well be in need of changing lensesIncarnateX wrote:I know! That is actually my point. As already said: You need glasses.fmr wrote:I don't see very much work coming out of it.
Now seriouly, I can see you are passionate ragarding the iPlatform. Glad you are happy. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. As long as the job gets done, the tools don't matter that much, do they? I still even use pencil and paper... go figure.
But, OTH, what do I know? I didn't get rich, after all

That's very much my point. What I see is that the so called "phablets" are getting more and more sells. If I was going that way, I would get a "phablet" for the fun of use, and still use the desktop or laptop for the serious work.4damind wrote:As of late I see a interesting movement/interest for 7" tablets like the Google Nexus. This are more this devices people can hold a long time with one hand on the sofa, can be easy used for all kind of outdoor stuff like maps/routing with GPS etc and this devices are not very expensive.
Maybe that's why a lot of people having not such a big interest for a touchscreen laptop like the Surface and instead using a lot cheaper and more powerful laptop and for other stuff ("surfing on the couch", travelling) some of this 7 or 8" tablets?

That must mean you actually have some glasses that works after all. How come you don't use them more often then? Could have changed your economics ages ago.fmr wrote: I can see you are passionate ragarding the iPlatform:
Actually I am even more passionate about taunting the iPad haters and iPad apocalypse prophets. It is really compulsive and I wish there were fewer of them so I could get some time to make iMusic. But sweet dreams.
But keep those glasses on or at least in sight (eh I mean near you) and things may change.
And now I have just shifted from being a kvrian to a kvraf. Hurray: 1500 useless posts. What an honor.

You are wasting your energy on me, then, because I don't give enough importance to the iPad to really hate it. If something, what I really hate is the Apple way of doing business, and all that "marketing hype" surrounding it, not the iPad "per se".IncarnateX wrote:

Congratulations. You reached that in about four years. It took me almost ten. Must mean I was more busy, but still didn' got richIncarnateX wrote:

I use my iPad as the quickest way to accomplish my daily tasks, such as Emails, KVR addictions, FB etc.
I use my PC for the rest of the things I can not do on the iPad, and I think Surface could be a more powerful tool on the road than the limited iPad, limited in comparison to the activities I can perform on a full fledged PC platform.
Windows seems to be very committed and the acquisition of Nokia phones business is an indication. Maybe a desperate move.
Apps, are designed for really hands on experience, while W8, even being a more powerful platform, is lacking the friendliness of the experience provided by the dedicated Apps.
Look at the Thor for example, on W8 it must be a PITA, while on the iPad is quite fun and in a way workable IMO. That's where the Apps shine.
I use the tool needed for the job until I find a better one.
Surface i7? Why not, I'll get that too if it fulfills my needs.

To get things rolling on the Surface Pro and Windows 8 when used with a touch screen Microsoft should pay the top 20 music app developers to make apps for their tablet. Could this cost maybe $20,000? Perhaps there are other ways to encourage and motivate these app developers to make Surface apps.
Without any music apps musicians will not buy the Surface pro. Left to the natural progression it may take years for app developers to make apps for the Surface Pro.

You realise that as an x86 computer surface pro runs all windows vst and hosts?Kalamata Kid wrote:To get things rolling on the Surface Pro and Windows 8 when used with a touch screen Microsoft should pay the top 20 music app developers to make apps for their tablet. I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Sure. But most of them are not very touch friendly.ericj23 wrote:You realise that as an x86 computer surface pro runs all windows vst and hosts?Kalamata Kid wrote:To get things rolling on the Surface Pro and Windows 8 when used with a touch screen Microsoft should pay the top 20 music app developers to make apps for their tablet. Someone in my office said that they'll take an iPad and give you $200 credit toward the purchase of a Surface. For an old iPad that's great.BMoore wrote:And the price of a Surface Pro 2. Yikes!

None of them are touch friendly. Have an Asus laptop with touch screen and controlling mouse driven hosts and VSTi is a true pita. The "but surface pro runs windows programs" argument is obviously a theoretical statement put forward by people who hasn't tried it themselves.BMoore wrote:Sure. Seems that proponents of the argument miss the point that apps have to be touch optimized to actually be usable with touch screens. In addition they also miss the point that another attractive feature of tablet apps are their simplicity in constrast to the traditional clusterfucked windows programs designed for big computer screens.

Didn't the Fruity guys just release a touch friendly app?
