Given the title of the thread that isn't particulary strange: "Surface pro 2013: Goodbye iPad"

Yes, because the Surface Pro is likely to be one of the smaller sellers in this category, which is expanding rapidly. HP, Dell, Asus, Sony, Lenovo, Samsung, Acer, Toshiba etc have been pouring models into this category for the last 12 months.IncarnateX wrote:Image-Line wrote:BTW why is this thread obsessed with the Surface? The advantage seen in that video is that a standard audio program connected using a standard usb cable is running - no apple tax , a truly vast choice of professional audio apps (unlike the app store) and compatible with my projects on my big i7 rigIncarnateX wrote:No I am saying t is a pita to do so compared to iPad apps. And the guy in the video is using the controller not the touch screen. Another time when you will prove a point with a video, you should really watch it first. WTF is tha matter with you guys? Are you on drugs?ericj23 wrote:Are you really saying you think that regular windows apps & plug-ins e.g. cubase, sonar, reaper, diva, zebra, dcam etc can't be controlled using the touch screen on a surface pro?
You again? Whatever your excuses, the video does not demonstrate that traditional win apps are easy to use with touch screen and thus do not reject any of my objections and that was the debate you dumped into without reading the posts that started it. Here let me give you the quote to show how much you were out of context:ericj23 wrote:

That last point is enough reason to bin the idea of making music with an ipad for me - who wants to make half a track on your iPad and then not be able to use any of the same tools on your real computer.
I guess if you just want to make tunes on one bit of kit an ipad is an option, but it is one the limits you from using vast amounts of other proven professional options - for example being able to easily add a midi controller is far better experience than multi touch - no real estate problems for a start and real pressure sensitivity definitely helps playing/programming
And as for the video comment - I am going to generously assume you just don't read what people type as english isn't your native language. You do realise it was your poor choice of video last time we had this conversation don't you? And spiderman still stopped the train.
You see? Even your ally @Bmoore agreed to my point before he felt the strange urge to argue against himself. Your comments about don't reading what people type is therefore just as foolish as your iPad predictions based on your anedoctal evidence. Can we at least agree that this "conversation" is going nowhere? You have your freedom of speech and opinion and I have mine. If nothing else we have both contributed to democracy by using it and that is as good as it gets.IncarnateX wrote:None of them are touch friendly. Have an Asus laptop with touch screen and controlling mouse driven hosts and VSTi is a true pita. The "but surface pro runs windows programs" argument is obviously a theoretical statement put forward by people who hasn't tried it themselves.BMoore wrote:Sure. But most of them are not very touch friendly.ericj23 wrote:
You realise that as an x86 computer surface pro runs all windows vst and hosts?
Seems that proponents of the argument miss the point that apps have to be touch optimized to actually be usable with touch screens. In addition they also miss the point that another attractive feature of tablet apps are their simplicity in constrast to the traditional clusterfucked windows programs designed for big computer screens.
First of all. This has nothing to do with "freedom of speech". Get that straight, and drop the name calling, and your points might come across a lot less moronic.IncarnateX wrote:

As already stated I have an Asus 11' with touch screen. A surface pro is actually just a similar PC with no keyboard and a little smaller screen (which actually does not do your argument any favor). And it was you who started the name calling a la "IngnorantX" as far as the two of us is concerned. But you have proven to be one big self-contradiction, so I would never expect you to admit it or any of your other failures.BMoore wrote: On topic.
You seem so obsessed with everything having to be "touch friendly". As if it isn't, it's useless and impossible to work with.
So I have to throw the question back to you: Have YOU ever used a Surface?
I think I know the answer.
However you try to twist it to save face, it was you who quoted me on the touch screen argument and then posted a video about using a controller with surface pro. Here let me remind you:ericj23 wrote:And as for the video comment - I am going to generously assume you just don't read what people type as english isn't your native language
ericj23 wrote:Are you really saying you think that regular windows apps & plug-ins e.g. cubase, sonar, reaper, diva, zebra, dcam etc can't be controlled using the touch screen on a surface pro?IncarnateX wrote:Twisted logic. A touch screen tablet where you cannot control the apps with the touch screen but only with mouse and keyboard is LESS than a touch screen tablet but just a normal pc. Are you kidding me or are you really that?
Here is a video of surface pro as a portable rig with maschine - running vst and all that good stuff - as a maschine owner that looks sweet !
But maybe it is just us that are very bad at English and do not understand that touch screen control equals using an external hardware controller?BMoore wrote:To be fair. That video really does not show anyone controlling anything from that touch screen.
Is that all you have left to say? Gonna leave you to your defence-mechanisms to reconstitute your shattered mind and self-esteem then...as an act of sheer humanity. After all I wish you no harm, just to tear your BS down and that mission is overly accomplished.BMoore wrote:Seriously. Are you ill?
Ok. Let's do this then.IncarnateX wrote:Is that all you have left to say? Cheers
Yes I hear you, and feel you and understand. Your mind has a lot of work to do now and I am a man of my word, so I will gently let you write anything you need to get it all on track again. I am your friend and if you need to blame me for all those emotions you are feeling right now, I will be your gestalt and receive all the projections and transference with love and care.BMoore wrote:And the name calling, and your childish attempts at belittling, is not something you master. Your friend
PS: I am not yelling at you, my friend, look at the post, it is directed to your other friend but implies a quote from you. Try to read it. If you need me to help you understand it, I am at your disposal.
The Image Line generators too? (Like Sytrus, which is too small on my high ppi laptop screen)Image-Line wrote: FWIW: FL Studio 12 GUI will be 100% vectorial allowing us to adapt it to suit the usage mode and display resolution.
