I've just finished a first listenable verion of this song.
Wopelka wrote these lyrics so i'll let him explain or translate...
Where are you Philippe ? Your last post is from Tuesday !
Anyway thanks for these lyrics and i hope it's OK i post this one before yours... :P

To be simple it's a poet alcoholic and a prostitute... They don't know each other... They die at the same moment and they meet in their coffins... :D

 Mamzelle

All comments/advice/remarks are very welcome... Thanks...

Yeah, that's OK, and it's a pleasure that my lyrics are sung by such a talented man 8)

i'll get back with more comments about your track, for now i've listened to it a couple of time and i have a BIG SMILE here, that's GREAT, cheers

Thanks Vurt and Wopelka (funny wedding march :D) for replying.

I'd love to comment properly, but I don't understand the language used in the song. Unfortunately, I suspect that several other people might have the same barrier as I do.

Otherwise, it seems nice. I just wish I knew what the words mean. ;)

The premise is certainly interesting. ;) If you do an alternate version translated into English, please let me know.

take care,

really, the only thing I don't like about this song is the drums. I don't like the splash
but the character of your voice and everything has a rather unique quality to it.

There's always this specific feel about your tracks that makes them recognizable and a joy to listen to. A very happy tune somehow, even though I understand to little of the French language.

Even though it rains here right now, it brought back the sun :D

:-o When i sing in english, every body ask me to sing in french because of my accent...
Consider the voice as an instrument...
And try to critize the music/arrangement/sound... No need to understand the lyrics...
Anyway thanks a lot for replying... :D

Bluedad, thanks... The drum kit is one of the thing i'm not sure... :? Thanks for the feedbacks...

Thanks Mystahr for you nice words...

Sorry to ask, but anyone else have problem with drum kit ?

beyond "jem apple john" i know naff all french, but ixox' music is the kind of stuff where it works in french for me,i like the fact he knows what hes singing and puts emphasis in the right places where as sometimes when non native english speakers sing it its all wrong :)
its as he says himself ignore the words listen to the voice as another instrument 8)
dunno if youve heard sigur ros but i bet you cant speak icelandic either and theyre feckin great 8)

Thanks Vurt...

Scuzzphut should comment all non-english KVR song... :P

about the drums: i quite like the kit (ns kit? i don't think so... :? ). the panning and programming is sometimes a bit odd in terms of 'realisticness'... but who cares? not me anyway.

the whole track has the special Ixox live feeling. i especially like the 'contre-chant' of the violin, which could be a bit more upfront.

i was wondering whether you would ask your wife to sing the Mamzelle parts... dommage ! :D

however, let's be fair: your singing is really good. well done !

my version is not finished yet but i can tell it will be a very different beast. je me réjouis que tu me dises ce que tu en penses.

Cheers

I don't really mind the oddness of the program either, it adds some character..but still, the splash I don't like.
is there any way to get the english translation to the lyric? (since we're honored to have the lyricist among us :) )

thanks to Google, here is an approximate translation... i've made some necessary corrections to the googelized version, but i'm not sure it is an ENGLISH translation yet...

anyway, i hope you'll get the idea:
Mister flies through his life like a butterfly
He compares the girls with soap bubbles
He likes poetry
He likes playing violin
He lights candles in the hollow of the underskirts

Miss knows the night, she is not afraid of the evening
She awaits her friends on the edge of the pavements
She grew quickly in the headlights
But alone in her bed she remakes her life story

Mister does not have a penny, it is very late now
He was thrown from the bar under pretext he is drunk
We don’t want you here anymore
Go home and be sober
You are insane but we won’t be nice because of this

Miss on her own is smiling
It snowed on her sweat horizon tonight
However her splashed dream finished in fever
The blood is flowing from her nose and won’t stop

Mister laid down in the park
The sun rose over the head of a cop
ID, you alcoholic
But he already flew away on its magic carpet

Miss does not move anymore, she visit her coffin
Where Mister came to wink at her
It is you who I awaited
There is nothing to mourn about
You are my only one, light my shroud

Together they will flee towards the light country
Where the quadrants flower and sings the paper
From the world of the satyrs
They will be delivered
The true life to come will be happiness

Mister flies through his life like a butterfly
And Miss today is his soap bubble
She likes poetry
He plays violin for her
In the everlasting day where the fairylights shine

Bluedad, what do you call 'splash' ??? Brushed ?
The kit is from wizoosound (Ambient Drums 4 "brush set" from Bitbeats XXL Compilation : 2.95 euros...).

I care... I still have a lot to learn in drums programming... :?
My panning sound classic to me..
If someone cann explain me what is odd... I would be happy... :help:

Maybe i'll by DR008 + slicy drummer one day... :D
Wopelka wrote:i was wondering whether you would ask your wife to sing the Mamzelle parts... dommage ! :D
In fact i wanted her to sing the "monsieur" parts.. Because you use the "3eme personne du singulier"...
And finished together with "Ensemble Ils..."
No time, her 2 last books 'Eureka street' and 'Léviathan' were too good to waste some time singing :-o

i cannot listen to music here at the office, so for an in-depth analysis you'll have to await some more hours.

all i can say now is: if your drummer was a real one, he would be a sort of alien, with at least three or four hands... :D (good point for the sci-fi theme BTW... )

in term of panning, the sounds come from different places, right, centre, left, close or far - and the result doesn't draw a coherent image of a drum set but rather a kind of patchwork of individual sounds.

however, as said before, it's not a big problem (at least for me) and as stated by garry, it provides some character to the whole track.

if you want it i'll point out some precise cases asap.

cheers
