cymbal swell is kick ass. The new kits are great. A few of the new effects are really good. The search system is WAAAAY easier if you have a sizeable selection of stuff. More things are on the "kit view" main page. So, out of the box use should be easier for newbs and people who don't like to tweak.

because meticulously sampling 7 drum kits in two first rate studios is super cheap!TheKid wrote:It really sounds great, but the price... OUCH.

Are the grooves duplicates of platinum samples current midi offerings or were they newly created for BFD3?

hmm ... I don't know. I have such a mess of BFD installs at the moment, I'm not sure what goes with what. A little later I can filter by BFD3 and see what comes up.Genetic_Junk wrote:Are the grooves duplicates of platinum samples current midi offerings or were they newly created for BFD3?

Do they use round robin samples? Because BFD Eco doesn't have round robin samples.

Thanks. I'll email Fxpansion to see what they say.SJ_Digriz wrote:hmm ... I don't know. I have such a mess of BFD installs at the moment, I'm not sure what goes with what. Also very curious about this!

The price is great considering what you get, especially if upgrading. A competing product like Oceanway Drums Gold (40 GB) is $559 at Sweetwater (30 GB Silver version is $369) and does not have a groove library or generator (AFAIK).TheKid wrote:It really sounds great, but the price... OUCH.
I own a BFD2 license, and I find it daunting in terms of the possibilities.

No, BFD uses anti-machine gun approach (random velocity) instead. You can choose the amount of velocity ranging. Or, do what I do regardless of round robin or AMG being available, I turn those off and vary the sample and velocity by hand (which is simple to do in BFD).chokehold wrote:+1Melodyshine wrote:Do they use round robin samples? The newsletter and website state:
"up to 80 velocity layers" isn't worth a snit if it's not round robin and I have to spend all darn day making sure every single hit triggers another velocity layer than the other two next to it...
EDIT: Ah, thanks for the answer in the post before this one.
If it's really just velocities... then I'm out. Shame.
Still have to hear yet a single 215 bpm blast beat or 190 bpm double-bass part that profits from non-round/random-robins.
Yet not a single metal demo to be found. Anyone can spot a 2-bar (or longer) drum roll or a fast double-bass part somewhere?Includes rock, metal, jazz and brush kits

BS, some of the best metal double kick work I've ever heard was done with the original DKFH and they not only didn't have round robin, they didn't have an easy way to vary to velocity.chokehold wrote:isn't worth a snit if it's not round robin
