Hi

:help: Can anyone recommend a good free sample auditioner, for use under XP. :help:

Thnx,
Garry.

now there's an idea.
I just requested a sample preview function in the Cameleon import dialog box.

Never thought of looking for an OS based preview function.

If there is something out there that will add .wav audition features to a standard XP dialog box - it would solve that problem for all samplers

Not quite what I was asking for, but that's bloody good idea. 8)

I mentioned my OS cos one of the magazines recomended one which I then found to be OSX only. I was just thinking of a regular auditioning app.

I use an app called FastWav you should be able to find (made by the Fruityloops programmer). It has simple scan/preview/trash functions.

Someone mentioned a free one called SampleCat, but this crashed XP after I had previewed several thousand sounds (and I lost my labor).

All considered the PC platform needs something like SampleManager on Mac OS X :

I'm all ears for something like this on XP :)

Not exactly what you are looking for, but extreme sample converter free version works as a sample browser. It can look inside soundfont files too.

The paid addition has cool functions to convert things to other things.

Thnx guys, you've all been a great help, and someone really should take up scuzzphut's idea for development.

I use Total Commander as my file-manager/browser (and FTP-client, file-viewer and microwave-oven). When you select a soundfile and hit CTRL+Q it'll preview the file.
Total Commander is shareware but it rules.

PS: I don't actually use it as a microwave-oven.

I'm just trying out FasyWav, but it hasn't got the greatest file & folder handling so I'll be trying out these new suggestions.

Thnx again.

... or for total commander users: hit f3 for preview !
( but it doesn't seem to work for 24bit waves )

It looked cool, so I downloaded it. Somehow the prog removed my soundcard driver control panel

Got it all back now, but suddenly I decided that I need try no more sharewarez for the moment.

That's a shame to hear, cos I now absolutely love it :D ,well once I got the hang of the folder tree (I must have been having a brain bypass!).

The best part is being able to pitch the sample, perfect for testing how junglist a classic break can get :hihi: .
