Multicore is cool - and the new UI looks slick.
But I really want to know what improvement to the underwhelming Maschine 1.x software has been done. How about round robin? Real time stretch? I kind of feel v2 is a rewrite NI had to do and in order to charge money for it they added a bit of whipped cream on top of it. 8 GBs of samples? Massive? SSL Bus Comp? Prism?
I'm not even remotely interested in the fluff. Give me the friggin details!

The point about a dedicated controller is the level of integration. You can do 95% of function in maschine ithout ever touching keyboard or mouse, and it's fast.fluxmind wrote:OK without PDC it's just a drum machine and a toy for testing Vsti demos for 1000$. I wish you all the luck in the world mapping a generic controller to every function in FLstudio including track creation, instrument/fx selection+insertion, patch browsing, sample browsing, parameter control, bussing, grouping, adding/editing/selecting/removing notes, recording automation, copying/pasting patterns, arrangement, mute/solo tracks/groups/channels etc etc....
All that stuff can be done in Maschine, out of the box, with no extra work.
There are many other excellent DAWs, many of which I use or have used in the pas, but using them with generic midi controllers is nothing like using Maschine or, for example, ableton with push.
I have met producers who have spent literally weeks mapping controllers to their choice of software, and they still lack some functionality. It really isn't a like-for-like comparison with a dedicated hardware/software combo.

Hosting Vsts without PDC in many cases is useless. Yes Maschine is a great creative tool, but all that new mixer, routing doesn't make sense without PDC, unless it's aimed at morons producing garbage like you hear on beatport and the likes.
Yes, it's aimed at morons(sheep), there's no question here, but still it's a great creative tool which would highly benefit from PDC and would attract more people, because it's much more fun to make something in Maschine, than in usual established archaic ways.

It's a fair point that PDC is useful.
That issue aside though, it's just a tool. There are many to choose from, msot of which basically do the same thing which is to allow the user to sequence music.
The USP here is the integration. If you take that out of the mix then there are many, many pattern-based music creation tools to choose from. But if you want the high level of hardware/software integration and to be able to take your hands off the keyboard/mouse then you have very few choices and this is one of them.
It isn't aimed at anyone, it's just a tool! If you don't like it, pick another one. There is a lot of choice in the market and that's something to be happy about.
