Thanks for the report!ThomasHelzle wrote:It's actually pretty nice: you have a full list of all VST parameters and a search field (in the lucky case the developer took care of meaningful names)
On those parameters you have the same options as on the internal instruments, but sure it's not as sexy as with the built in devices. But the parameters move in the VST plugin GUI so in the end you get the same visual feedback, just not as direct.
You can turn on a button to only see automated parameters in the list.
And yes, all the macro controls work for this as well. And you can create presets for these settings
Cheers,
Tom
What does it take for a 3rd party synth to work with Note Expression? Do you have any understanding of that?
For the most part, I am happy with Live. So while the modulation in Bitwig looks great, I am not unhappy with modulating stuff in Live... especially using Push. I do like that BW has the built-in LFO. I don't really care for the LFO using M4L available in Live.
The thing that is most enticing is the per note expression. I find that of real interest, especially when it might work for my favorite synths.

One of the things I find indispensable in Live are the racks. My impression of Bitwig is that there is not something comparable to Live's instrument rack. I'd be interested to hear about this subject.

Yep. Bitwig drew out a lot of angst.dalor wrote:hibidy wrote:Wow, that other thread! The NBWTPM (New Bitwig Threads Per Minute) are quite high. Its Word DAW 3: Bans. Tears. Words. Expectations. It's like a daytime Soap Operdaw

well, BWS supports VST3 (3.5...?), which is required for 3rd party note expression features. it's already possible in cubase. so my guess is that it won't be a problem, but i don't have any VST3 note-expression capable synths to test so can't say for sure.pdxindy wrote:What does it take for a 3rd party synth to work with Note Expression? You mean the features from Bitwig in Cubase?musikmachine wrote:So um oh yeah, that's a no OP.
Pretty much agree, but hey... I can dream.

Considering the modular approach, it would be cool to upload/download/share fx/synth constructions within Bitwig (inbuilt browser - or on their website?!?). The stuff some people come up with will be mindblowing, no doubts about that.

Maybe this is a stupid question to ask, but are their audio features already demo'ed with Bitwiggity?
It seems the grand focus has been on MIDI and the latest demo of note-specific automation was way cool, but how about those of us that sing and play things with strings? Any love for us?
Edit - the only evidence I've seen is in the intro video at about 3 minute mark to the end, but no actually highlighting of any audio capabilities. Or did I miss something amongst the furballs?

From the modulation video (start at 1m50s):pdxindy wrote:One of the things I find indispensable in Live are the racks. My impression of Bitwig is that there is not something comparable to Live's instrument rack. I'd be interested to hear about this subject.
That whole "device chain" at the bottom seems to opterate a lot like a Live rack. I would be surprised if VST parameters were excluded from this macro modulation. The whole system reminds me quite a bit of the modulation system in Surge.
It even says later in the video "LFO Mod: modulate anything in a device chain".

Live had device chains before racks. In a device chain, you just add one effect after the other.bmrzycki wrote:From the modulation video (start at 1m50s):pdxindy wrote:One of the things I find indispensable in Live are the racks. In Live's instrument rack, I can layer multiple synths each with their own device chain. I can velocity layer them, do key splits, etc... all in one track and to save the rack just drag it to the browser (very slick the whole thing). From what I have seen, you will need to use 2 tracks in Bitwig to layer 2 synths (but maybe it is there?). And then it is not easy to save such a setup...

Interesting, I wasn't aware of that feature. I sure hope BW has it, that sounds useful. Similar to the split layer mode in Omnisphere.pdxindy wrote:In Live's instrument rack, I can layer multiple synths each with their own device chain. If you click on the "world class sound devices" thumb on their site, you can see that there is an "inst-layer" device. I dunno if you can do the key and velocity splits with that, or if bitwig can handle separate chains after an instrument for parallel processing like Live's rack can.pdxindy wrote:Live had device chains before racks.
