very very useful! also useful to mix from scratch directly into it on the masterbus. and the flanger/delays are sexy too!

With the Slate, it gives the bottom end a push and I usually have to compensate by pulling some of the bottom end out. With Satin, my final mixdown is tighter, with less sub-bass in the kick than my premaster - still not sure whether I like it more or less - I get the feeling my pre-master sounds better in headphones and the master run through Satin will sound better on a big system.

Note this has also gone through a Thermionic Phoenix so this has also coloured it a little.

I love the 3D ness, depth, space of your mix :) Superb!! and great track as well ... the legend continues ;)

Would you mind telling me after sascha's explanation if you could keep the low end heft of you kick drums ?

And with regards to the space and 3Dness, does satin enhance it ?

IS there any processor you could recommend in the plugin world which can indeed impart all that space, depth and 3D ?

I am a bit leaving the hardware aside for a moment and experimenting with plugins, and I'd be very curios to hear your reply.

Merci :)

The imager in Ozone is superb, but just a little goes a long way. If you push it too far, you can create a lot of new problems in your mix. I like to use it only on one or two tracks in a mix, or just a touch on the master channel.

I've done a little experimenting, comparing the compander with some of my compressors. At this point, all I can say is - it sounds different :hihi: I really need to take some time and rtfm.

I haven't done any rock 'n roll lately, but I can't wait to try Satin on some rock tracks. I'm not getting an urge to use it on the game tracks I'm doing.

I feel I'll probably have to shell before the price goes up. There seems to be something about license transfers I don't understand, but I'm not buying it to sell it...just that the write up on it seemed......frustrated.

Anyways, it's a lovely sounding plug. I'm really trying to trim down but it hits a unique sweet spot.

Isn't it simply that you can't sell your license for a number of months after purchase (I think 9 months).

Why is there an OMG in the thread title?

Shouldn't it be OMFG?

Oh my feathered grouse?

His grouse had an accident and they had to pluck it's feathers. So, OMG is appropriate.

Thanks for the nice comments Ian :)

Yes Sascha is completely right - it is possible with some tweaking. I haven't had a chance to try it out on another master, but have been using it on a track I am working on, on individual channels. I am just at the stage of experimenting with tweaking existing presets but eventually when I get time I want to create something custom made in Satin that I can use on my masters and then tweak to taste.

Satin definitely enhances the 3D but I suspect mainly via the hiss, which always seems to do this (check out an old Maurizio/Basic Channel track to hear the effect of hiss on the mix). The U-he guys should have a better explanation of Satin's 3D qualities than myself however.

In terms of my track, to be honest I think most of the 3D you are hearing is via reverb with some stereo action going on (I used mainly 2c B2 for that track) plus the Dimension D patch of Valhalla Ubermod on some of the other sounds (this is from memory - I am getting forgetful in my twilight years!)

so, for space/3d I would suggest - 2c B2, Eventide Blackhole, Ubermod and there is also a cool plug called CMX which really widens stuff.

Hope that helps :)

I guess. Just sounded confusing.

I know I want this. It has worked beautifully in live and studio one so far and is a special plug. It's totally unique and it's quite a fair price. I just don't want to buy anything right now
