1. Is there a bounce in place option? Similar to Studio One in which it creates a new track with the audio event below the track you bounced?

2. Is there a multiband compressor included in the FX? If there isn't, do you know if they plan to incorporate one?
With Bitwig it would not be necessary to make a new track. It could actually bounce in place cause tracks can hold both midi and audio...
I was the same thing. However I think there are midi tracks, audio tracks and hybrid tracks. So I would assume with hybrid track, you could bounce into the same track. Can anyone confirm? I'm not sure what the benefit would ever be in using an audio track or midi track anyways when there are hybrid tracks.

As for clips on the master, very cool! As is the fact that return tracks have clips. No more of all that waste space!

Also, someone mentioned something about loops being able to be loaded into the sampler on a drum rack pad. Can it be synced or sliced someone within one sampler?

Yes that's basically how it works. After bouncing the MIDI part of a hybrid track to audio it's possible to switch between the audio and MIDI versions for editing and playback. It helps to keep the track count down, and is probably useful for live performance e.g. switch to MIDI mode to do some live tweaking, then back to audio when done.

Peace,
Andy.

Wait you mean you can switch either way like in studio one? like bounce midi to audio, then back go midi after editing the audio? That's my favorite studio one feature. Like a far more useful freeze function. Was wondering what bitwigs take on freeze was.

Good to know Andy, so there actually is an offline bounce in place mode right? what about the multiband comp, could you check that out for me please?

Thanks!

Yeah, the bounce in place is rather nifty. Bounce one area or midi clip of the timeline to audio (with the track being automagically converted to a hybrid track). Now that bounced part plays audio, can be reversed and pitched and whatnot and the stuff surrounding it still uses the instrument, all on one track... In this case, only the instrument is bounced, not the effects, so everything still sounds correct.

Pretty cool.

Tom

Not sure if I understand you right here, but if you drag a loop onto a Drum Machine Pad, BW creates a Sampler for you that contains the loop. This Sampler is a single-file-sampler by default with graphical in and out points, Pitch, AEG, Filter etc. and modulators for Vel, Key, Timb, MW, AT etc. But you can "convert to multisample" and then you have a rather involved Sampler that can fill the whole screen with key ranges, velocity ranges etc. A bit like the simpler/sampler concept in Live actually.

Not sure what you're after exactly, but there is the "Slice to Drum Track" command if you (time-)select any given part of the timeline. This automatically creates a drum machine with the selected time/audio cut up into the individual pads (each one containing a simple sampler with the respective part of the selection as the sample start and sample end) and that played by auto-generated midi notes.

Quite nifty actually.

Cheers,

Tom

Finally I can contribute something real to the thread:

The little devil was somehow fascinated by my AKG 701 back when I visited a friend in Split/Croatia. :-)
Thankfully the headphones survived his claws... A lot of other stuff didn't...

Back then I didn't know that all this was just anticipation of Bitwig...

I have to admit, since I was scorned by bitwig from getting the beta, I can't even relate to 99% of what is being said. You might as well be talking in a foreign language.

Yeah that does sound great. Happy to hear that midi tracks can change into hybrid tracks with bounce in place.

Andy made it sound like you could switch either way, which I'm very curious if I read that into what he said or if that's what he meant. In Studio One you can convert midi to audio, then cut, move and edit the audio and then convert back to midi. So it's like a freeze where you can actually move the audio around. If this is how bitwig works, I'll be in heaven.
