i'll delve into testing on weekends, then i'll hit FX forums with crash log spam
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

I'm on Win x64 here too and haven't had any crashes with BFD3 in a long time (I've been testing it). It's been good for me in Standalone, Studio One, and Sonar X2.Breval wrote:Very stable here.bill45 wrote:How stable is the win x64 version?
I've been using it all day, no crashes so far.

Not sure I'd know how to measure that...I've never had issues with the GUI relating to CPU usage. I'll say that the GUI is definitely more workflow efficient.Jace-BeOS wrote:Is the GUI any more CPU efficient?
Also, in case anyone already bought and wasn't aware. They just released an update today that fixes bugs with keymaps not loading and tom resonance spikes that were happening on some systems (along with a few other things).

Jace - the GUI has always run in a low priority thread, meaning it gets out of the way of more important audio processing as needed. There isn't really such a thing as a CPU-intensive GUI.. if the GUI is heavy on CPU then in any decent host not made of chewing gum and string you'll just get a rotten-awful frame rate when the audio engine starts to work hard.
This account is dormant, I am no longer employed by FXpansion / ROLI.

Okay, thanks for that reply, Angus. The problem must be my goofy setup.Angus_FX wrote:Jace - the GUI has always run in a low priority thread, meaning it gets out of the way of more important audio processing as needed. Explanation: i am "operating" my music Mac remotely, from Screen Sharing, because the Mac with all my stuff on it has the defective NVidia GPU. The machine still works, but i can't get any display output. This is frustrating for so many reasons, but it's all i have at the moment (i can't dump everything onto the newer client Mac because of hard drive space, no money for more drives, and the fact that some software i use is abandoned and wont run beyond Snow Leopard and the new machine is kept on the current OS).
Anyway, when i open BFD's GUI, the performance takes a dive bomb. Apparently the screen sharing server is eating too much CPU to send display frames out to the client. i notice this with Logic's Channel EQ Analyzer mode, depending on project complexity, but having the BFD GUI must have a lot more motion and really bogs it down in this scenario. Sigh.

I am interested in BFD3, I will always remain a toontrack whore but I am really curious about the new features and an earlier discussion which came up I would really like/appreciate it if one of you BFD3 users would do this for me:
Thanks if one or two of you will take the time to do this, I'll post the MIDI here. Cheers and all the best
Dean
If I knock up a br00tal MIDI file in BFD mapped format would one or two of you do that? I do need break neck speed for my own stuff but still I'm considering BFD3 to go along with what I've got/use already so the kick drum is perhaps not an absolute deal breaker, The cymbals and toms sounded good to me in the demos, Snare drums also, Still it'd be good to hear/know what is what with the kick drum, Looking forwards to being able to demo it when that is availableSJ_Digriz wrote:I wasn't being cocky intentionally. "Prove" not in a cocky "your statement is untrue" way, but in an interested "I've never heard it do anything better than RRs" way.
Shoot a deathcore track through BFD3 and upload it, I'm really and truly curious how it could in any way sound better, or at least if it will suffice.
If you send me a sample MIDI file with something suitable I can crank out some examples. It would be good if you could post an MP3 of the round robin version. I'd be curious if I can get it close as well.
Thanks if one or two of you will take the time to do this, I'll post the MIDI here. Cheers and all the best

Sure, I'll run your midi through BFD3. I also have lots of the toontrack drum products, and I prefer their approach to anti-machine gun. With BFD I find myself needing to edit the velocity to achieve realistic sounds.
I'll run the midi through the metal preset kits that use the new BFD3 sounds.

Nice one, Once I have had a rest I will throw something together Genetic_Junk and pop it on this thread. I could go without the kick drum if I like the cymbals and toms enough for example and cook up a bit of a beast with SD2, BFD3, Kontakt & Drumagog (One possible setup of endless possibilities)Genetic_Junk wrote:Sure, I'll run your midi through BFD3. Is there an upgrade path from BFD Eco to BFD 3?

Maybe Drew or someone else from Fxpansion can chime in to confirm, but I think the demos actually use some of the presets. The presets sound great, and are completely mix-ready IMO, but more importantly: the raw drum recordings sound great. I'd say this is easily the best sounding stock library Fxpansion (and probably any one else) has ever put out on a product like this.hibidy wrote:Yeahbill45 wrote:Do the presets sound as good as they do in the demos on the fxpansion site. That's my question too. The promos of some of these are the "real" drummers playing and not the playing of the samples
