the cabs are on the costly side if you buy them one by one. if you get lots, you'll have a real man's discount :-D i'm not sure if they are resellable, but i don't care - i can see myself sticking to WoS for the forseeable future - it's such a flexible toolbox.

They are not. :) They are tied to your plug-in license.

You are right! And it will go on developing.

Thank you for all your feedback. The plug-in is now almost in its final version, after a Beta-testing phase that took a while longer than we expected. It is now very close to full release, and if you still see some things, please do report them here: http://support.two-notes.com/ (http://support.two-notes.com/)

Thank you all for your interest and support!

now, if only we get additional plugin window sizes and ability to set a default size... i'll be happy and eagerly waiting for new cabinets :-)

I bought the 5 pack with I think it was 25% off? Anyways, they sound great. I'll have to install .18 and check .16 was better, but it crashed a lot before that.

Thanks for the update, hibidy. Torpedo WOS III and IK amps make sweet love together :)

Hopefully, once the stability is fixed the final release will be soon as stated. It does sound dynamic.

I'd be curious to know if the genius also known as Guillaume used traditional impulse technology in addition to the modeled power amp section to create the dynamic response. Is it indeed using real snapshots for these cabs? Whatever it is, it is great.

I really enjoy the new version and not having to use ILok. Also the latest release loads way quicker.

Is there a proper way to demo the cabs before buying?

There is. I forget what the demo period is. Thank goodness they finally dropped ILok. But you can also try the free Marshall one unless it has changed. It is the Brit VintC 4X12. There might be some limits as far as all the mics you can use and how many instances you can run but it has no time limits.

Here is an example of the Torpedo PI Marshall model with Guitar Rig. It is a huge step up from the guitar rig models.

there is no demo period - just select the cab in "custom shop" and it'll work as long as you like (just inserting silence every now and then). you can't save your project with demoed cabs though.

Seriously impressed, both with the sound of this thing and the support.
Can only recommend it!

How many cabinets do you really need? 1 or 2 for clean, 2 or 3 for rock/metal. That's 3 to 5 cabs, meaning 24€-30€ to pay, which is roughly what other commercial cab sims of equal or lesser quality cost. So I don't think 8€ for a decent cabinet model is really a lot, considering the actual "framework" plugin to load it is free.
Just as a comparison: how many cabinets can you buy with 30-40 IK CS credits?

I think two-notes mentioned earlier in this thread that cabs are not resellable and "connected" to the WOS3 plugin license. Sort of "in-app purchase" style. However, when I asked their support, they stated that the actual WOS3 plugin licenses themselves can be transfered, so I'm guessing "the cabs go with it", which works fine for me.

All in all: two thumbs up for this.

I just got Recabinet, but I remember being really impressed with the CM version of Torpedo.

I wouldn't mind getting a few addons for this.

Can anyone recommend something that would compliment what Recabinet does?

Or maybe just some thoughts from those that use both.

I'm still at the sharp end of the learning curve with this stuff. And I don't want to get bogged down. I pretty much have everything I think I need, but I might be persuaded to buy a couple of extras for Torpedo.

cheers.

One thing that can be appealing for the wos that you can control the mic placement in finer detail as opposed to fixed settings. The poweramp is also nifty if you play around with it.

Neither sucks, that's for sure. I mean, you can get very good sounds out of both.

Post

I have both Recabinet and WOS III. Because of the added controls and flexibility in WOS I would have to give the nod to them. I remember not being all that impressed last year when I tried their demo, but I probably didn't spend enough time with it. However, the new version has just knocked me out with all the different cabinets, mic placements, and power amp combinations...not to mention the compressor and eq sections, etc. It's my current favorite guitar speaker cabinet simulator toolbox.

This has gotten to "rock solid" status BTW. They are clearly committed to getting this right!

So, the big question, at least for me, is how do these cabs compare to those offered by Amplitude, Recabinet, Redwirez? I'd like to invest in some nice cabs, but a bit overwhelmed by the options...
