I just re-downloaded angelica and ran it - it game me the 'stand alone' version and the file that you would import in V1- as I couldn't find an import button on V2 I tried running the stand alone (player) version of angelica and it showed up in V2!VariKusBrainZ wrote:SLiC wrote:
Foe what its worth my angelica sound set from V1 worked in V2- obviously the new effects were just off. I wouldn't worry to much, V1 still works and coexists with V2 (V2 shows up as an additional instrument) so everyone will still have V1 and I actually prefer it for the readable GUI!
Great!
How did you convert from v1 format to v2?

The new installers all seem to be labelled v1.44 and the zip file contains an executable as well as the "aih" (not 100% sure about the version number and the extension right now as I'm not at my regular computer). You can either go to the AAS site and navigate to the download pages and grab from there (in which case you will need the original serial number from when you first bought the bank). Or, if you have the email from your original purchase (which you probably should have kept) you can just click on the link. The file that will download is the new updated one.
The executable is used to install the VA-2 version. For VA-1 you have to use the import function as in the past.

I'm a bit worried about our Nec+Ultra soundset ( 260 presets for Ultra Analog ) because it is currently our best seller soundbank, and keeps on selling. Our FX only soundbank had good sales also, though its not in our top ten.
I'm atm buried under heavy work for the next Xils unit, and also I think AAS have some other more important things than to consider this problem atm, but I'll try to join them and see what they say, and if they can help us to achieve soundbank compatibility.
Depending on their -eventual- answer, i'll try to decide if its still a good thing to keep spending a lot of time to create patches for synthesizers whose developpers consider compatibility loss as just colateral damages, for people who have actively supported them and their products.
I have had this happen a few times over the years when the underlying foundation has changed quite a bit in both audio and graphics programs. It's easy enough just to keep your old UA-V1 on the computer. Luckily all of the AAS synths don't seem to take up too much hd real estate.
One of the reasons that V1 is definitely staying on my machine is just because of your presets.
Personally, I would rather you focus on working for the next Xils unit! But it would also be nice to have your patches updated to work with UA v2. It sounds like the changes are mainly with the effects and also probably need to tweak the filter and other settings as needed in order to maintain consistency of sound.
This is probably an issue for Xenos as well. And I think Aiyn Zahev has an Ultra bank.
Barring an "automatic" solution from AAS, my thought is that maybe in your case especially you might be able to find a volunteer who could maybe make the necessary tweaks. You could offer some of your banks in exchange as payment. That way your product remains viable. Really, even if there were to be an "auto" solution you would still probably want someone to go through all the presets just to make sure everything is good.

After listening to it the update was (especially at the price) a no-brainer,
but the interface? Is it ment for Android phones? Way to small.

Contact AAS, I know when I mentioned the banks I have from Himalaya and Xenos, they said they intended to contact them and help with porting their files to VA2. I also mention Aiyn Zahev's bank after they informed me they were doing as much as they could to make the transition better.Lotuzia wrote:From what I read, its really disapointing to find out that all soundbanks for Ultra Anlog V 1.0 are not compatible.

I would still like to know if anyone has actually measured the three screens via tabs and put the dimension on top of each other to see how it measures against the single page of VA1? Something tells me they are not too far off from each other that way.
I like the skin and the GUI seems 'cleaner' to me. I didn't really have a probelem with VA1, but I do think VA2 is nicer in its own way.
The GUI of theirs I don't care for has been Tassman 4.

A simple rationale:
A single bank of sounds goes for $39.00
Which can contain maybe 100 presets as in 'Angelicals' (101)
Ultra-Analog VA-2 contains 600 presets at this introductory price of $29.00?
So you're basically getting like 20% off one of their sound banks and getting a synth engine for free. So it comes down in the first part of whether or not you like the sounds or if you feel you would rather get a sound bank for some other synth you already have.
I agree that their 'list price' of 199 or their 'slashed price' of 149 is unrealistic in today's market. But it does make it more of a no-brainer at 29.
Kind of makes it a 'get it now' or 'forget about it' price.

Nec+ Ultra includes 260 new presets for Ultra Analog for less than .... 17€
More than this most Nec+ Ultra presets have midi links ( ie real time controlers assignation) wich none of the UA1 v1 factory presets had at the time nec+ ultra was released ( dunno if this has changed since that ) It means A LOT to get expressive presets.
Btw Maybe a lot of the factory presets in version 2 were already in Ultra analog V1, and as people who did not have V1, or maybe another AAS product, wont be able to update for the price of 29$, in the end the ammount of new presets in V2 might be less ....
Thats why I feel concerned about the possibility to make the presets available for UA V2 users if so they desire. So thanks also for the info in your other post.

Not to completely derail this thread, but the new iPad Arturia iSem (9.99USD/8.99EURO) has "Preset compatibility with the Arturia SEM V Mac/PC software." I know you just released SEMssentials: "25€ (including taxes for ECC users). There is an intro price of 19€ until September 21st, 2013."Lotuzia wrote:

Now that this has come out and the number of people who can use your patches has increased exponentially -- I wonder if it might be a good time to consider a sale of some kind (though you have more experience and can better predict the outcome than I). Arturia obviously thinks more sales at a lower price is a good idea.

Why would they ruin the GUI even more? The text is nearly impossible to read unless I am kissing the screen. I am not even vision impaired. Come on AAS get your head out of your ASS.
Why are re-sizable GUIs not a standard? Or at least something that is 800x600 or close to that for hi-res screens.

I don't have good eyesight, but I think people might be exaggerating a little about this GUI. Yeah, it's smaller than I would prefer. It's not unreadable or unusable though.

Well, you would have multiply your price times 2.5 to equal the number of presets.Lotuzia wrote: Well, another simple rationale if you allow me.

At 199. or even 149. I wouldn't even consider this synth in the running for getting my money. Really, I see the price point for this type of synth to hit its max at maybe $79.00... For me, it was a no-brainer as a free upgrade and I can see it being a nice value for anybody that can pick it up for $29.00
And it won't replace my VA1 but add to it. So there is still a market for your sounds as it is, although they have effectively devalued it unless you port it to the new device.
On another note, I was looking at their site images for VA2 and had to laugh a little... if they made it as big as the images to show it are, no one would have anything to say about its size!

I had installed three of my four AAS soundbanks in UA-2, but my installer for starlight was the old import type, and I couldn't locate my serial number for it to get to the new installer. I sent AAS support an email last night, and they just sent me an email with my serials and installer links for all of my sound banks. Fantastic! thanks a bunch to AAS for such great support!
