I was about to say that I didn't understand why they wouldn't make these available as DXi. After all, if you are using them as a rewire client it is an extra step, etc. I don't see how making the Roland stuff DXi would be any more of a giveaway than making it available thru rewire.

However, by making rewire a necessity, they may leverage customers with either older or entry-level versions of the software to newer versions which support rewire.

If it's going to be tied to P5 and Kinetic, why not put in a little effort to tie it to Sonar as well? I'd much rather work with one host than two, esp with the issues of rewire vs a DXI or VSTI (having to save a song in both hosts, etc.

This is the only thing that's stopped me from putting my money down already, as I already have a virtual studio (FLS) and Sonar. I may still buy it anyway, but I'm less inclined to now.

Hey guys... the Kinetic forum is now live http://www.cakewalk.com/forum/tt.asp?forumid=30you might get more answers from other Cakewalk staff, moderators and Kinetic users there, as it is an official Cakewalk Kinetic forum.

Judging by the number of posts on this thread :o (even before the product is released) :) I am sure the official forum will be a better place to get answers for now and certainly for the future.

Just a thought 8)

I got mine today but have not used it yet because I am at work. Looks like a busy weekend.

All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

I got mine but it won't install. Anyone have the same problem?

I installed it on

Windows XP Professional

2.4 Ghz

1024MB Ram

Delta Audiophile 2496

Echo MIA

256MB Graphics RAM

It installed but when I go to use it, either stand alone or as a rewire from with Sonar 3 Producer Edition, it flashes up "Kinetic not properly installed. Please use the CD to reinstall it."

Then a second window pops up (ocassionally) that says:

The plugin you chose will not connect to Kinetic. It is likely that this plugin is intended for exclusive use by the application which installed it.

P5antom Failed to Connect
P5antom Failed to Connect
P5antom Failed to Connect
P5antom Failed to Connect
P5antom Failed to Connect
P5antom Failed to Connect
P5antom Failed to Connect
P5antom Failed to Connect

When I reinstall it, the same thing happens over and over. I would like to try creating a different folder to isolate the plugins, but that option is grayed out because it detects an existing plugin folder.

I had no problems installing it over here. Are you logged in as an Administrator when installing it?

As for the program itself... it's great. :D

yep. Logged in with full rights. :(

It has worked fine for me on both my PC and my laptop.

To Cakewalk_Mark and others from Cakewalk:

It is great how you jump into other forums to promote your software.

I'd like to remember you that there is a very active user forum for sonar on your own server and that it would be very much appreciated if you would jump in there and give here and there some answers to your customers that paid ca. 700 dollars (not 87$) for your flagship product.

Just a reminder: your flagship product (sonar 3) still doesn't have a audiometronome or a mute tool.
Also tell me please, why a european sonar customer doesn't get the full english manual, but just a printed helpfile in 3 languages!

Greetings

Really nice, positive, and kindhearted first post, mojkarma. Thanks for helping to make this such a pleasant environment.

I didn't post to make anybody or anything unpleasant. Please, don't take it personally. I'm just very frustrated about Cakewalk's ignorance of their user on the official Sonar forum.

As Sonar 3 was out, they answered allmost any question there, and now we don't hear anything from them. Now it seems to me that they only jump in, when they want to promote a new product. I (as a legal and registered user of their product) send them an e-mail regarding the "manual", that they ship in Europe for european users, it is actually a printed version of the helpfile, nothing more, and I didn't get an answer, but it seems that they have the time to jump into other forums instead of supporting their existing products on their official website.

Again, I'm sorry for my initial words.

In all fairness, the cake forums are "User Forums," however, they do have ways to contact them for technical support.

I didn't say the opposite. But they could answer the questions of users like they do here. Where's the difference? Steinbergs moderators answer to users on their official forum allmost every day.

I remember that after they started the forum, they answered every little, they were all over the forum.

I'm sorry, I'm just very frustrated with Sonar3 and dissapointed with the missing features (that other sequencers have for years) and the whole marketing approach they have, I think it is very unprofessional.

Others may have different experiences, let me just say, this is my very own oppinion. No pun intended.

Is this true? I'm based in the UK and am saving up to buy either Sonar or Cubase, but the fact that Sonar is meant to come with a good 600+ page manual was swaying me more towards Sonar than Cubase.. Maybe I should reconsider...
