Hey guys just wondering what your favorite vsti's are for those who produce edm. Mine are Massive, Sylenth, FM8, and Sytrus at the moment. Let me know what you guys like and what you use them for!
Continue to work hard at what you love no matter what the odds are. Eventually, someone will praise and appreciate what you do.

Massive, Sylenth1 and FM8 are veterans. If you have a modern machine be sure to demo Monark and Spire. Both get close enough to the sound of high-end hardware, analog and VA.

Xfer Records's Nerve. Controlling Nerve via ipad lemur is a beauty.
+ a few synths here and there + some vocal-lines. You won't need much else.
Turnado is my go to plugin for the lonely island.

What is EDM supposed to be these days? I always knew it as Electronic Dance Music, which goes back such a long ways now that almost any synthesizer has been a part of its production and genre evolution over the years. The Massive/FM8/Sylenth trio usually seems to pop up in Dubstep discussion most often these days, but don't Strobe, Nexus and Vengeance samplepack-ad-infinitum still reign on Trance mountain?

If I were to do commercial house or trance, I'd use Sylenth, Massive, and Nexus.

I was rather thinking about which synth CANNOT be used in any way for EDM music?
I haven't found anything...
Maybe Aalto, because it's more suitable for IDM music...

Synths do not produce EDM, people do
But yes, Sylenth and Massive seem popular if you want to make it fat and twisted. I can recommend both, but turned to Sylenth is the end.

Maybe, but nowdays synths and plugins with their massive unison capabilities will make your job much easier, because you don't have to layer 10 sounds over one another. And monophonic synths won't do pads. So it IS a matter of what stuff you use after all.DJ Warmonger wrote:Synths do not produce EDM, people do![]()
