Now that you won, maybe you can let me in on a secret. What kind of guitar is the "whale" guitar in your winning entry? What kinf of effects is it running through? I love that sound.

it's an e-bow isn't it?

I get a similar but rather less controllable effect by holding an ancient Tandy [Radio-Shack] telephone amplifier close to the pickups whilst I'm playing.

hmmmm.. I have Sampletank2 and Sonic Reality Guitar collection. Would I be able to approximate that sound with those tools? Any tips and tricks would really be appreciated..

I think the effects also had a lot to do to shape the sound, no?

-edit- even if you know of other vst's that have that sound let me know please.
