Sascha Franck wrote:If you want lossless audio compression, use WinRar. Does the same compression ratios as anything else (up to over 50% on 24bit files).

But I don't think that was what the original question was all about...
What about what's mentioned there:http://www.monkeysaudio.com/comparison.html.

I haven't done the test myself, so I can't tell.

EDIT:What is however certain is that you can play those lossless files directly in your media player without unzipping them.....

OK, that's a cool thing I must admit. But then, usually I only need lossless compression in case I need to backup something on a CD whereas it wouldn't fit onto that CD when it was uncompressed.
There are 3 kinds of people:

the monkeys audio website wrote:Description:

Monkey’s Audio is a fast and easy way to compress digital music. Unlike traditional methods such as mp3, ogg, or lqt that permanently discard quality to save space, Monkey’s Audio only makes perfect, bit-for-bit copies of your music. That means it always sounds perfect – exactly the same as the original. Even though the sound is perfect, it still saves a lot of space. (think of it as a beefed-up Winzip™ for your music) The other great thing is that you can always decompress your Monkey's Audio files back to the exact, original files. That way, you'll never have to recopy your CD collection to switch formats, and you'll always be able to recreate the original music CD if something ever happens to yours.
