Bitwig Audio Demo Guy really matured as an artist in the meantime. By the time this thing comes out he will be filling stadiums.Ogopogo wrote:Well I think all their videos are done with the internal synths.

I'm not Thomas, but that is the pull-down menu that allows you to choose an audio clip to be the background for a MIDI clip.Ogopogo wrote:Hey, thomas, what does the "background" selector in the edit window do?

In this image, break-1 is set as the background for my MIDI clip. On the top-left side of the clip editor, you see three buttons arranged vertically. These let you toggle layered editing, and switch between the audio editor and the MIDI editor.

Hmm, interesting. For some reason that seems less intuitive to me than I would have imagined. Guess I'll have to wait and try it out though, thanks. Can you use multiple clips for the background? Seems like no if it's just the one drop down.

It works pretty well. It doesn't list all the audio clips in a project, only what you have currently selected. I was able to figure out how it works without reading any documentation. At least, I think I understand how it works.Ogopogo wrote:Hmm, interesting. For some reason that seems less intuitive to me than I would have imagined. Oh yeah, I think I understand it too, but I guess I was just imagining the layered editing being a bit more cohesive than that. I'm not exactly sure how; maybe allowing you to work with whatever midi or audio you have selected, or whatever is in the project for track mode, and choosing visibility of everything in that column rather than just picking one audio clip to superimpose as a background. But like I said, I guess I should try it before I complain about it.

I have a video on youtube I would like to share but I'm keeping it unlisted until I get explicit permission to post it.
I will post here as soon as I can (if they say yes).
