I've a small problem in Cubase.

I've bar 1-32 visible on the workspace. When I move the marker or "cursor" - that vertical line that moves on play or when scrolling the timeline - it just goes out of sight. If I move it to , say, bar 64 the workspace still just show bar 1-32.

How can i fix this?

how are you moving the cursor? Are you using the go to marker x function?

Ehm, no. I use to enter the bar I want to go to in the time line. Also, the marker is moving when I play.

Earlier the workspace used to follow the marker. I must have changed some setting without being aware of it :(

I think "doing this from memory" it is in preferences under Editing->Project & Mixconsole.

I think you are confusing the term "Marker" with the "Locators".

There is a setting "Locators follow cursor", or something like that.

Markers are static locators that you add on your own and don't move unless you manually do it.

EDIT: Geez, now I'm doing it ... edited because it's the left/right locators, not the cycle markers I was talking about. Sorry about that.

'marker' threw me at first. If I can restrict the issue to 'cursor', perhaps all you need to know is to activate the auto-scroll.

Pheeew! That solved the problem!

Thanks a lot. Really appreciated! :)

You're welcome. the part of that button with the asterisk, what it does when activated is allow you to edit during playback and the screen will cease auto-scrolling during the editing; the scroll button turns orange. then when you're done, hit the scroll button again and auto-scroll kicks back in.

when you say "marker", usually we'll take it to mean

these red guys 1, 2, 3 here. so, those are spots I return to frequently, for editing, so I marked them. my transport has a button to push the cursor to them, or a key command on the qwerty keyboard to do the same.

Great. If not already existing I've to crete a hot-key to enable/disable the auto-scroll function.
