I'm not really into multiband comps anymore, but having said that this looks great, that dynamic mode which reduces phase shift in particular is really interesting and just sidechaining one part of the freq response could prove quite useful.
Once again a superb video by Dan, love the way he explains features of plugins, though I do wish he'd spare a few seconds just to have no talking and do a before/after bypass momenet where we just hear the audio on its own. Thats the only thing missing from his videos is enough of that.

.. with at least two "destroy it all" presets from yours truly. They are called 'Pop Radio FM' (two variants) and can be found in the 'Mix Bus' category.
Seriously though, Pro-MB is NOT your average multiband thingy.. you need to truly explore it to appreciate the elegance and sound quality (well that part you hear right away).
It's ridiculous how awesome it can be in rescuing bad mixes or even bad recording takes of various instruments.
Highly recommended!
Cheers!

Yes a bypass all. The guy who does Protools expert does that usually and it's pretty cool to hear, but he often doesn't gain match.Arksun wrote:I'm not really into multiband comps anymore, but having said that this looks great, that dynamic mode which reduces phase shift in particular is really interesting and just sidechaining one part of the freq response could prove quite useful.

I recommend you try it, I couldn't care less when I first saw it because I've only had so so experiences with MB comps. Anyway give it a listen I think it's very, very cool. If for nothing else the great stereo width shaping options and side-chaining capability.
As I read your post I got the idea to explore side chaining just small section of the bass spectrum to the kick, might help clarity there.

....well, the video is really well done (i also missed the "bypass" function),
but i ask myself if i really need it, if i have Ozone.
For sure, some things look easier with the Pro-MB and the UI looks just great, but I'm not sure if i can't achieve the same
results with Ozone (except for that side-chaining trick...)

Like all compressors, Pro-MB will not sound/behave the same as any other alternatives so ultimately it comes down to taste. Pro-MB is very program dependent so don't expect the same results from Ozone (which is also program dependent afaik).
I'm really liking the upwards compression a lot. You can really push it to quite ridiculous levels on various sources.. such a nice feature to have.
.. and it's NOT at all like TB FlX either which makes each tool unique. It's much less fiddly to setup than FlX.
Cheers!

The actual compression action itself is the nicest of any MB I've used so far, which includes c6 and Ozone, both of which I sold. This is such a versatile plug-in which is why I want to keep it around.

Pumping mania with the "very strong mids" one in particular.
I really like your two 4 band mastering presets bmanic, nice work.
Very smooth.
Thanks

This is the type of situation I was thinking where it would be very cool if the 'preset developer' included a sample of the program material used to develop the preset. The product could even ship with the clip, or a link to a CD or music source could be given. That way the preset could be tried out 'in-context' so to speak. Sometimes presets, especially on dynamics plugins, lose a little in the translation when used on different material.
Then the only difference is in the listening environment (not always a small difference) and your personal HRTF...

The POP Radio FM one is great below 40% mix. And I love how the mix control is actually just scaling the settings. It's a more of everything, less of everything control.Beatworld wrote:Those 2 are pretty RADICAL for surebmanic wrote:.. with at least two "destroy it all" presets from yours truly. I missed that knob on first tryout. It's one of the keys to this plug.Aiynzahev wrote:The POP Radio FM one is great below 40% mix. There is a bypass button. Little trash can like on all other FF plugins.Arrested Developer wrote:....well, the video is really well done (i also missed the "bypass" function),

@ bmanic & Aiynzahev: Thanks for your replies!
I'm actually doing a little testing with the demoversion, and it's really great so far; the workflow is just fantastic...
Also downloaded TB FIX, which is extremely low priced but less sexy...
@xtrax:
I was referring to the youtube video... specially the thing with the side-chaining.
