Can someone elaborate on the stability? I feel X2a is very stable for me (unlike others I never had problems) yet I read X3 is even more stable. So in which areas does this show?
Also, since I've never ran 2 versions of a DAW alongside of each other:
Can I just install X3 with default settings or should I use custom if I want to keep using R-Mix? The info on the CW forums were unclear to me as there it says if you want to use R-Mix you should uninstall X2, install X3 then do a custom install of X2.

It is more solid than X2a here which I consider a very solid release. Zippier interface, gapless here.Spiritos wrote:Can someone elaborate on the stability? I feel X2a is very stable for me (unlike others I never had problems) yet I read X3 is even more stable. So in which areas does this show?

I just left X2 installed and RMIx was discovered in X3. VVocal wasn't however, so I had to do a custom reinstall of X2 to get VVocal back, however I doubt I'll use it much with ARA integration of Melodyne.

I installed it last night, started late so it went until 4AM
. I always keep a back up of my configuration/presets and install fresh if it's entirely a new version. I was bit sleepy, tired and didn't have patience to do any extensive test. One thing I noticed is the stability, they have certainly improved the sound engine. Usually after installation first thing I do is open one of my own track that I know is heavy on CPU/RAM then tweak the buffer/latency setting on ASIO4ALL until I get to a comfortable setting. It usually takes a bit of time because of stuttering but in case of X3 it was different. I just opened the ASIO4ALL set it to 256 and opened a few tracks. There was no stuttering or other hiccups, the tracks played beginning to end without any hitch. Haven't checked anything else yet, just woke up
I know a 5 min test doesn't mean a thing but I am happy. At least started with a positive note and feeling. Sonar X1D was rock solid on my system so I am hoping the same for X3. If anyone wants me to check/test anything specific then let me know in this thread. If I have time then I will do it.
I have heard you can import settings from earlier versions as well.

I am trying it currently. They usually upload the Webinar within a couple of days and announce it on their forum and blog.pwal wrote: anyone try the sw yet? is the webinar available to view somewhere?
If you uninstall X2 before installing X3 then yes, you will have to run X2 installer again and select custom install option and select the plugins that you want.Spiritos wrote: Also, since I've never ran 2 versions of a DAW alongside of each other:

I've been running X3 for a while now. X2a was a mess, X1d really solid on my system as well. As far as I can tell X3 is as solid as X1d were. There's a minor problem with Pod farm defaulting to mono (or rather one channel clean and one channel with fx, possible to configure away) and I've had two random glitches that I remember. One engine related and one clips related, non of them repeatable and I have no idea what caused it. Might even be some kind of overload or me hitting something wrong by accident. No crash and burns...satYatunes wrote: I know a 5 min test doesn't mean a thing but I am happy. At least started with a positive note and feeling. Nice but a bit annoying. It popped up at the wrong time today and showed 0 plugins added. Well, tell me something new. I know there are no plugins to add, so why pop up when I am in middle of something important:-D Good that there is an option to turn it off. It's not like I am adding plugins everyday, so I set it to manual scan. I will scan when I add or remove new plugins.Tronam wrote:That's great. I wonder why more DAWs haven't figured out how to do this yet.CoolColJ wrote:The background VST scan is pure genius!

#1. Just turn off automatic scan and you can do that manually anytime you know you added something.Jace-BeOS wrote:satYatunes wrote:Nice but a bit annoying. It's little, but damn there's a lot of crap like this.
Either in preferences or plugin-manager.
#2. These notifications need no reply - that is how they are designed.
But I agree it's annoying to get things you didn't ask for - so apply #1.
It really annoys me like Studio One does it, and found no way to turn that off either. Startup takes really much longer than needed.

I upgraded to X3, it all went well except it does not see Addictive Drums. I have done all the standard, show X3 the folder in setup, and scan it, and reboot.
The strange thing is, it works fine with ableton live 9, but won't even show in X3 Producer. All the other VSTs show up in X3 from the same VST folder, but no addictive drums, it's installed activated and all. I can browse to the VST folder and see it there, but X3 does not see it at all. I have installed it twice now, and told X3 where folder is and had it scan, but no Addictive. Unless I use Live 9 anyway. Addictive sounds freeking great BTW. Wow!
Any ideas?

Sorry to quote myself. Here's how I fixed it. I uninstalled X3 $49.00 upgrade. Then did a repair with the XLN installer, now it shows up in X3 Producer, the $149.00, ben dover no lube upgrade.riley4reason wrote:I upgraded to X3, it all went well except it does not see Addictive Drums. Makes sense as AD is bundled with producer version upgrade only which is $149. Glad that you figured it out. Why did you buy two upgrade packages? Just curious.

Well, I got a email about the upgrade and saw that it was $49.00 and I thought, that's not to bad to pay to for such a piece of shit, maybe they worked it out, besides, sometimes I don't feel like making music and I can always turn to Cakewalk to help me not make music.satYatunes wrote:Makes sense as AD is bundled with producer version upgrade only which is $149. Then I found out, to go from Producer X2 to Producer X3 is $149.00, not $49.00.
So I called them and told what happened and they said no worries, stop calling us names and you can have Producer X3 for for the $49.00, so , I said, OK asshole.
So here I am, happy and being mean. Although, I love everybody, just want to make that clear.
Peace! Riley

Heh, The more point releases, obviously, the more bugs. I wonder how many releases that ^^^ clown's DAW is on....Arglebargle wrote:At least they're fixing their multitudes of bugs faster.
