Hi, complete n00b here.
Windows 8, MuLab 5.2.16, 64 bit.
I'm sure there is a simple answer to this, but I'm stumped.
I've got my recording in MuLab sounding exactly how I want it. However, when I mix down to wav, it sounds completely different and awful, like it was being played underwater or something.
I would have expected the mixed down file to be equivalent to the master output within MuLab (as it used to be in Muzys), but clearly this isn't the case.
Can anyone give me any pointers as to what I need to check or what settings/configurations might be causing this?

I think it is either a driver problem or mixing problem (or both).
Check first what kind of Audio driver you are using in MuLab. The audio driver problem can be solved in few steps mostly but the the mixing problem (i.e. how to mix) needs knowledge, time and experience.

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

It sounds to me like there might be some sort of software setting that you are not noticing. This happens to me sometimes, I forget I put an eq somewhere or whatever, and I notice after final file output. I would check your project settings, export settings, etc, check the settings on all the plugs you are using, make sure none of them are clipping, make sure you are outputting STEREO and not MONO because if you fold to mono then that can easily do what you are describing.
It could be anything, but I would go through on a track by track basis, starting with the master track and check to be sure. You never know you might have hit the mono button by accident on the master track, or there could be some hidden automation or something.
If you still cant figure it out, then maybe post a short selection showing the problem on sound cloud and link it here, it might be obvious to someone if they hear an audio example.

I wonder if it might help if you relate exactly the steps you're going through...SteveTools wrote:Can anyone give me any pointers as to what I need to check or what settings/configurations might be causing this?
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."
