Oddly enough, I just pulled my shoreline gold tele out of storage tonight. I had forgotten how light it is so I put it on the scale, only 6.5 lbs! It's a real beauty with Warmoth body and neck, Joe Barden bridge with compensated brass saddles and a cutout to make volume swells easier, and a Lollar bridge pickup. The neck pocket is so tight that all the paint has cracked around it from the stress of the neck. It's by far the best tele I've ever played.

I also pulled out my Warmoth tele with Kinman pickups, my Fender Custom Shop Mary Kay, and my Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton. All of these (not the shoreline gold tele) will be on eBay by the end of this week, I need to generate funds for the shop to cover all the inventory I've been buying for the busy season.

I hate that I can't have such a nice collection! But I guess that if I'd not have bought all the "budget" guitars I might be able to have a better lot?

I had an EC strat that was quite the shizzle. Then I took it to be "set up" and the guy RUINED IT. New nut after, it was never the same. Let it be GC's problem. A CS fender?! I could never dream, but that is the diff.

You can buy CS Fender parts on eBay for cheaper than you might imagine. Warmoth and Suhr are better than Fender CS, IMO.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

It's funny, I play my fender Stratocaster everyday. It's Almost 30 looks like hell plays like heaven. Most days I think of installing different pickups but in this paper thin apartment I'd never be able to really hear the difference. I've often thought about transplanting the neck but I'm just too scared.

Heya,
Would like to make a slightly OT update.
Getting heavily into my guitar sound now.
Gotta run my ibby and see what I make of it now.
My Samick looks pretty sick,
but feels sorta less quality than my 2 I'm using,
and certainly has less sustain.
Maybe I can improve the action, I guess that's what's
giving me that perception.
The knock-off strat I built is no2,
has different sweet spots and just sounds different.
The cheap alnico pickups were a steal-
I'm happy to run them.
Gibson is thick and sustains for up to 10 secs under compression.
Definite go-to, but the strat also is satisfying to play.
I've sorted out my key is basically C,
but it changes when using the same intervals on the bottom 2 strings.
I have been playing lead, and wanted to ask-
how do you get feedback ITB?
Also- what is your lead signal flow/fx chain?
I'm running compressor, distorsion, reverb and it makes so
much difference when playing when you like the sound.
I feel I've made some sort of step.
Anyway- what do run for lead?

btw- my LP has gold involved too
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

I played around with the Laney IRT-Studio the other day, which I know Dean has gotten results out of. It's an impressive box, its basic distortion sound is similar to a Tiny Terror but it has a lot more options. The clean and low gain tones are better than the Tiny Terror, IMO. Also, sticking a cheap Behringer active DI in between the amp and speaker, then running that through speaker cabinet impulses yields good results with very little effort.

I just love it when this thread gets so much good attention :)

also with gold..pity the 24 carat wears off. I should redo it, it's not difficult.
My 2007 custom classic.

The only other I have with gold is the 3 pup 94 nighthawk standard.
:D
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

I love it, I'll bet it sounds terrific!

Speaking of terrific, it brings a tear to my eye (in a good wayish) that with this and the strat I have achieved tone nirvana even with sims. I tried changing the pups and such in all those "other" guitars and you know, I never really heard it. Anyways, except for my one true japan ibby, they are all gone. This one is cool and I'd not part with it for anything other than about what I paid for it....which I'll never get so unless I'm the ultimate in desperate, it stays.

I'll certainly be considering another Carvin. I'm shocked......SHOCKED by how good it is.

I even played a little game and didn't play it for a day and then picked it back up to see if the honeymoon was over. NOPE.

It makes S-gear sound fabulous. If you'al remember, I wasn't the biggest fan of s-gear (though it never sucked) but the Carvin just BREATHES life into it.

Oh, and I kinda like elixir nanowebs which shocks me :o

Post

Sweet! Which pickups does it have in it?

I personally love Elixir's. They're especially good on acoustics and bass.

Post

C22B in the bridge and a "Gambale" in the neck. Just what I wanted. Crunchy thick bridge and sweet singing neck.

Post

I think I just wet myself a little.
