serial midi interface win xp

i ll be very happy to route midi trough a win xp pc on a serial interface instead of crappy usb protocol. i just need 1 In / 1Out ports. I have found some schematics about cable between din midi port and rs232, and some drivers elsewhere; at moment not a complete set of cable and driver for this purpose.
Even a commercial (cheap second hand) solution may be ok but i dont want to carry around an amt8. Arduino solutions can be considered too if they are ready made and reliable.
