Jumping in here because I also hang out at Overclocked Remix. It's a tribute album to the game, made by people who love the soundtrack, for people who also love the soundtrack. It's all volunteer cuz obviously you can't make money off someone elses' IP all willy nilly. Lots of these kinds of albums get made at OCR.tehlord wrote:MeteoXavier wrote:

I really don't think anybody thought that for even a split second.
Tell me, what is the ultimate goal of this project? What is it's long term purpose?
What do you know - I actually need some composers.

I think that maybe this is one of those rare instances where we should lighten up a bit and give the OP a break. I just skimmed over their content policy and it seems clear to me that these guys are providing a service that is intended for promotion, rather than profit, and their policies explicitly prohibit others from trying to profit from the artists' work. I don't see the problem here. I'm sure that there are tons of talented and opportunistic hobbyists who would love to have some free promotion.

I get that it's for a non-profit, but it was sold in the wrong way off the bat.
To add to that, let's not forget that the typical response from KVR did not elicit any dialog, it was greeted with anger and the blanket statement that we're all "assholes" and "children".
I'd say take your rude attitude somewhere else and go pump sand.

Bingo
'I need composers for an unpaid job' is not even remotely what this is about.

Nor is the infomercial style lead in on the subject getting straight to a request about providing a service for a non-profit organization.tehlord wrote:robojam wrote:I get that it's for a non-profit, but it was sold in the wrong way off the bat.

A straight to the point request for what is actually needed would have gone down a lot better.
As would not bringing anger issues into the forum.

Welcome to the internet!MeteoXavier wrote:Then why did you bother posting anything at all?Numanoid wrote:OK, I stopped reading thereMeteoXavier wrote:Hi there. The first thing I'm going to say is, No, this is not a paid job.
OMFG, 'ELITIST' no less. You have some pet project of very limited interest, that I would think the people that care a lot about would be kind of an inner circle you have access to. Nobody has the time, though, eh?
I don't know who you're talking about, but I would have bet money you weren't paying. So, sure, "KVR! Some chump will..."MeteoXavier wrote: Look, I'm sorry you guys are getting your hopes up thinking this is some kind of professional gig by a rich studio that didn't have anywhere else to turn but a KVR message board, but that's not what this is.
I think all that person did was show they're not interested. Welcome to KVR, where nobody owes you a thing. Is your name meaningful to us, do you imagine?MeteoXavier wrote:Not good enough for you? Then move on. You don't have to be a dickhead to show you're not interested. Even if this was a paying gig, we wouldn't have any use for no-name talent with poor professional attitudes. At Ocremix, we do music because we love to do music. We don't pull that arrogant troll shit.

It shows he's new to KVR....wow, I think this thread just hit my "Top 10 Funniest KVR Threads", especially when he pulled out the "dickhead",
I apparently didn't completely understand his whole speech...I thought it was a list of video games, not a single video game.

I'm locking this, as in typical kvr style, it's gone way off topic.
If the OP would like to try another thread, explaining things in a different manner that's ok.
