Should I get The Glue, have DCAM Dynamics & DC8C

Going on the ever helpful tips of people here, I got Klanghelm's DC8C and the FxPansion DCAM Dynamics bundle. They're great. I sure hear a lot of raves about The Glue as well, wondering if it's worth getting that too? WIll it fill out the quiver or is it just redundant to the SSL Bus emulation in DCAM Dynamics?
thanks!

Dcam is nice just like all fxpansion stuff, I highly doubt in use you will find much difference with the glue or any other recent compressors. If you want the latest and greatest I highly recommend slates vbc collection. For me they are the next gen of modeling and do stand out sonically from the current cropTheoM wrote:Nope the glue blows away the fxpansion one. Totally different to the dc8c. As noted, different beasts. DC8C is like the ultimate compressor toolbox. The DCAM stuff I have, but never quite gelled with. The Glue works like a charm for SSL-style compression and you'd really (really) have to go out of your way to make it sound bad.

Thanks for the tips. That VBC stuff looks cool, but fricking ilok? REALLY? IT's goddamned 2013 not 1999. Can't believe anyone is still using obsolete schemes that inconvenience their legitimate customers in this day and age.
Sounds like Glue should be in the quiver though. =)

It's actually not obsolete, no ilok 2 protected plugins are cracked, virtually all others are, not obsolete.iainduncan wrote:Thanks for the tips. That VBC stuff looks cool, but fricking ilok? REALLY? Well I could be wrong about the cracking, but I doubt it as I work a bit in computer security and *everything* gets cracked. Even cisco routers.
The bigger issue to me is that it's a huge inconvenience to their legit customers. I find it insulting and unnecessary and won't ever buy something with iLok when there are so many good non iLok options.

Yes, and then finally "pirates" will be able to use a 6 years old plugin.claudedefaren wrote:I'm with iain. Ilok2 WILL get cracked eventually.

Get it. The Glue is the best plugin compressor. New compressors come out and they always compare it to the Glue. The Glue is the benchmark of compressors. It is the one true king of Westeros
I love music but more than that, I love making it

My experience with DC8C(2) is that it's extremely versatile. The problem with it is, you really have to know what you do to max it out. It's a bit like an instrument that you have to learn to play (even if you are experienced with compressors.
For sure, it's not that kind of "instant gratification" type of plug in.
