You get it! It is really really important for me! I cant wait anymore for Bitwig! And I hope it is like I imagine!

I write also a mail to bitwig company and I hope they answer me! I cant wait, really! And it is a mess, that they dont invite me to beta test! Im a really bug hunter ;)
Whoa Michael - calm down - no need to panic. :o

You're going to have to wait right along with the rest of us. Just consider yourself in good company. :)

Happy Musiking!

Oh wait, there is a note effects folder in Thomas's screenshot. So there is just the one note tool in there right now? I guess they intend or intended to have more.

I really wish they'd do an open beta, I'm dying to try this software!

Well seeing as how they say it will be out before the end of the year I think it's getting pretty unlikely, but at least we could be playing with the finished version soon.

There came a new Beta 7 out yesterday - good stuff:

- Sample Start, Loop Start and Loop Length can now be modulated in Sampler! - just what the doctor ordered. There are now also three LFOs in the Sampler and all filters that are available elsewhere in BW (for instance in the great Ladder-effect). Those filters alone are worth a look into Bitwig IMO - really beautiful sounding!

- I was also a bit underwhelmed by seeing just that one note tool initially since I love midi-mangling, but now there is a Diatonic Transposer to restrict notes to a certain scale, a simple Note Pitch Shifter and a rather involved Transposition Map to go even more crazy as with the Diatonic Transposer.
A good start and I'm sure this selection can be easily grown in the future if users ask for it (I will :-) ).

But my total favourite: Step MOD, an up-to-16-Steps Sequencer where each step can modify anything you put in it's FX Slot in the usual intuitive graphical way. It also reacts to the general Shuffle settings on demand, so this is awesome for all kinds of rhythmic modulation.
But it gets even better: you can modulate each steps value with for instance LFOs or other StepMODs or Automation etc. and that opens up a huge wealth of generative options. I totally love it :-)
And you can modulate the speed too...

(As always, rightclick "load image" or however it's called in your browser to see it 1:1)

There are many other fixes and improvements but these are the most interesting ones for my taste :-)

Cheers,

Tom

Yeah that StepMOD is bad ass! I spent an hour just sequencing the frequency of the tone generator and sending it through all sorts of layered effects.

The new MIDI effects are a welcome addition, too.

Yeah, controlling the Samplers Loop Lenght with it is also major fine mojo :-)

is it just me, or is it really slowly getting pretty f**king ridiculous what you could do with all (we know) it offers?
Brzzzzzzt.

One more thing: I just tried and yes, you can have automation independent of the lenght of your clip:

A 7 bar bass melody is running, I put a NotePitchShifter before the instrument and automate it's Coarse Pitch Value over 21 Bars so that it goes up one note every 7 bars. I loop that Automation at 21 bars and have now 3 repetitions of the 7 Bars, each one note higher as the one before.
Then I added a Resonance Automation with just 3 Bars length, also looping...

This is brilliant and can create extreme complexity from one simple loop when having multiple automations, each with a different lenght!

Cool :-)

Tom

I suppose you can't normalize with the sampler, can you? I know that's sort of looked down upon but it's a good way to get drum samples in the same range to make setting levels simpler and I don't think you get the ill effects if you do it nondestructively.
