Nah, I'm referring to the fact that keyboard shortcuts don't work in plugin interfaces. e.g. in Omnisphere while using the preset browser, you can move to the next preset using the Down arrow key, but this doesn't work in S1. Similar functionality exists in many other plugins which are also broken in S1 but work well in other hosts.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Are we talking no presets showing, or you can see them but the arrows dont work?soundpalace wrote: Factor in the fact that keyboard shortcuts don't work on most plugins (e.g. arrows for browsing presets)
I assumed presets not showing was because the plugin does not publish them to the host, so this would be the same in all hosts. Its certainly true of Live.

I just went through ten pages of the market place and found only 2 references to Studio One.ruslan.st wrote:I was trying S1, it is really nice and makes positive impression. But
does anybody has an idea why S1 is the most frequent DAW for sale here in marketplace?
Ableton live seems to be up there though at least six references to that one.
I think your mistaking someones need for cash over satisfaction is a bad bellwether, besides they usually express their displeasure here prior to putting their software up for sale.
most of the time I think economics has more to do with that.

Yes, it has to do with economics, at least for me. I've sold S1 twice because I needed money more than I needed to write music, but that problem has been solved, and I'll never sell it again.

I really miss the functionality... I had it in Tracktion.soundpalace wrote:Nah, I'm referring to the fact that keyboard shortcuts don't work in plugin interfaces. e.g. in Omnisphere while using the preset browser, you can move to the next preset using the Down arrow key, but this doesn't work in S1. Exactly. Workflow is everything and, when the DAW starts getting in the way of your creativity and productivity, it's not a minor thing IMO.soundpalace wrote:+1 to those points too. And I do hear your point about the minor things, but these little things add up unfortunately. Factor in the fact that keyboard shortcuts don't work on most plugins (e.g. arrows for browsing presets) and the amazing workflow is offset quite heavily by all these little problems which work against the software. I'm keeping my license for the time being and am eagerly waiting for the next hotfix to see if Presonus will sort out some of these issuesrecursive one wrote:Also if you rename a virtual instrument track you have to do it twice - in the left panel of the arranger window and in the mixer. And also when you select several adjacent tracks and add buss for them, the buss is added to the right of the leftmost selected track - I find it illogical, would be better if the buss was added to the right of the rightmost one or to the left of the leftmost one or in a special place in the mixer dedicated for busses.
However, if we have to go down to such minor things to find out something to complain about this should mean that S1 is really-really great DAW.

That's probably because the threads were removed after the sale went final or the OP pulled the plug on the sale.CTStump wrote:I just went through ten pages of the market place and found only 2 references to Studio One.ruslan.st wrote:I was trying S1, it is really nice and makes positive impression. Trust me, S1 is offered for sale very frequently in the MarketPlace. When I tried selling my (second) license a few months ago, there were two other people actively trying to sell theirs. And, I had watched the MP closely for weeks prior to that, hoping to find a time when I would be the lone seller, hopefully to maximize my sales potential and profit. People were asking $180-230 at the time, and nobody was buying. Finally, I just gave in, rejected some lowball offers, and finally traded it for Maag EQ (which I really wanted) plus some cash - so, probably around $160 in value. Not a DAW that holds it resale value very well. OTOH, it's a lot of bang for the buck and PreSonus is excellent with license transfers.

As for the resale thing, i think it's because S1 does not have much to offer to those who has got used to another DAW. But it is definitely great for beginners.

Agree. Workflow is like "beauty", somewhat randomly subjective and conditional.cryophonik wrote:Exactly. Workflow is everything and, when the DAW starts getting in the way of your creativity and productivity, it's not a minor thing IMO.
As to naming midi tracks, they're in decent company there. Cubase works exactly the same way with it's midi track / instrument rack relationship. Probably not coincidental given where the developers came from. If you name a - midi - track in Cubase arrange page (which is the same thing as an instrument arrange track in S1), the instrument's audio output channel from the rack in the mixer doesn't get renamed. They're completely independent objects.
It's an interesting observation that people regularly complain about that in S1, but never in Cubase, when they work the exact same way. Go figure.

Sales - take with a pinch of salt. People are always buying and selling. Everytime theres a bit of Bitwig news Im sure the Live sales increase in the Market Place.
I think we're all a bit more savvy that we're not 'stuck' with software anymore.
Plus the easier it is to offload a licence the more will be resold.

this is because Cubase also offers instrument tracks which don't suffer this problem and are used 90% of the time by most peopleLawrenceF wrote:Agree. But they don't work for multi output instruments so any use of multiouts requires a midi track and the instrument rack. Now if Cubase users only use multiouts 10% of the time, dunno, I would not assume to know what most people do.
No biggie. Was just thinking out loud. Thanks.

Good point. Probably explains why the resale value is so low, too.VariKusBrainZ wrote: Plus the easier it is to offload a licence the more will be resold.
